I tried this beer off the tapper at Dankhouse Brewing in Newark, Ohio as part of a five sample flight. The beer poured a purpleish red with no head and no lace. The scent had tart strawberry and other citrus notes. The taste was tart/sour with berry presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with subtle carbonation. Overall it is a great sour.

Darker reddish purple body. Fresh strawberry, bright lemon and floral bite. Mild acetic acidity smoothed out by a bit of lactose, but which lingers through to the end. Nice citrus as well. Medium lighter bodied, good carbonation. Full flavored all the way

Pours a luminous raspberry-blueberry shade with heavy fog to the transparency. Head is a finger of bubbly pink-white foam. Aroma is, quite literally, a tart little punch of blueberries and raspberries, followed by tropical fruits and very light grassy hops. Lactose sugar punches through the mix loud and clear, like a high pitched guitar through a rock band mix. Lactose really notches up the sweetness, which shifts the focus off the initial tartness. Flavor profile is still tart and berry forward, hitting raspberries and blueberries along the way. Grassy and earthy hops come on just after, but are swept away by lactose sugar, which swells the finale with sweetness before the finale downturn to sour. The storyline in the flavor profile is intriguing in that it opens up tart, moves to sweet, before stalling out on sour at the finish. Dynamic. Mouth feel is medium in thickness which bumps up more towards medium-thick with that lactose. It's nearly smooth consistency gives off a creamy texture. Overall, an incredibly expressive beer that mingles both tart and sweet with hops for those seeking even more complexity. It performs in distinct acts, creating a linear, but dynamic, storyline.

Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 16oz can.
