On tap at Belmont Station the other day.
The beer pours a blackish brown color with decent head retention and light lacing. The beer is somewhat viscous, and looks like a beer that has seen some barrel aging. On the nose it's apparent that this is going to be a very sweet tasting stout. There is considerable dark chocolate and vanilla, with maybe a hint of underlying coffee and bourbon. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely in the very sweet, barrel aged pastry stout. Frankly, I'm not getting a whole lot of barrel character in this beer, but that may be due to the overwhelming chocolate and vanilla I'm picking up. Mouthfeel is fairly full in this beer, and alcohol is well integrated into the flavor profile. There's a bit of noticeable heat in the long, sweet finish, but it's not intrusive. Drinkability is hard to gage. This beer is so rich and sweet, it's really hard to imagine drinking more than a small glass of this beer. This is another pastry stout that is essentially dessert in a glass.
Interesting beer, but it's just too sweet for my palate. Likely won't order this again, especially given the price point ($12 for an 8 ounce pour at Belmont Station).
