Poured from a can at just warmer than fridge temp. Pours a thick black with no head. The nose is maple syrup, vanilla, caramel, thick milk chocolate, and bourbon.

The taste is super smooth. Maple, boozy bourbon, caramel, vanilla cookies, chocolate, coffee, sweet candy, molasses, and some black licorice.

The mouthfeel is thick and creamy. The aftertaste is sweet maple soaked in bourbon. Overall, I like this a lot more than the artificial tasting Double Stack. Still a tad too sweet for me, but still really good.

Poured from a 12 ounce can dated 2026 into a snifter at 55.1 degrees F.

Appearance- Deep black, opaque, dark brown sudsy head, high alcohol legs on glass wall, slightly below average head retention, below average lacing.

Aroma- Bourbon, oak, vanilla, maple syrup, cacao, slight coffee, very high strength of scent.

Flavor- Bourbon soaked, vanilla, maple syrup, coffee, cacao, oak, spicy, very high strength of flavor.

Mouthfeel- Full body, sticky, slightly below average carbonation, mildly bitter, moderately sweet, moderate spiciness that builds throughout, highly boozy, mildly creamy, highly mouth coating, highly mouth warming.

Overall- Deep black and opaque with plenty of alcohol legs, but below average lacing and slightly below average head retention. The bouquet was a great mix of bourbon, oak, vanilla, maple syrup and cacao. The coffee was somewhat hidden in the nose, but still detectable. As soon as you open the can maple syrup smacks you in the face. Once the beer is poured the maple syrup blends more with the rest of the aromatics and the bourbon leads. The flavor is delightful. It is a bourbon soaked mixture of vanilla, maple syrup, coffee, cacao, oak and spice, but all components shine through and contribute. The mouthfeel consists of a full and sticky body with slightly below average carbonation. I expected more bitterness, but the sweetness may have dulled it. I loved the spiciness building as I made my way through the can. Overall, this was a wonderful beer that didn't have any of the artificial character the non-BBA version has. I'm sure the barrel character is just covering the imperfections, but that is fine by me. I poured this beer at 55.1 degrees F and it got even better as the temperature warmed throughout the time it took me to drink it.
