On-tap 11/24/2021 at the brewery’s taproom in Providence, RI, served in a stemmed flute glass.
A: The beer is a deep dark brown color, with a thin beige head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains strong vanilla, hazelnut, chocolate, coffee, roasted malts and a faint touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out with strong sweet flavors of hazelnut, vanilla, chocolate and some coffee. Then a hearty roasted malt character quickly follows. The hops presence is very faint but on-target for this type of beer and brings a very good balance for a dessert beer/big stout. The after-taste is sweet.
M: A little crisp but extremely smooth, heavy body, light-to-medium carbonation, finish is clean for the style.
O: Very tasty, goes down dangerously easy, slightly filling, strong kick, very good representation of style. This is an excellent big stout to drink for a long time.
