this is much better than their cherry saison, at least in my opinion. there seems to be a whole lot more grain character here, both in terms of body and flavor. fresh cereals, wheat driven, mellow but fresh. its also rather well hoppy, which i think is its most distinguishing feature, an apparent mix of old and new world hops, i get the grassy bitter noble profile here in the nose, but in the flavor its much more of the tropical and citrus complexion, cool back and forth there, and with enough body to support both too. the yeast is the part i think isnt as amazing. its another simple and common strain, or at least it behaves like one here. sort of that winey french thing going on, some white grape and pear notes, but not as rustic and interesting as the best saisons out there, and for me anyway a weakness in an otherwise really beautiful beer. still very drinkable, well carbonated, and dry, which are all necessary parts of the saison equation too. i liked these guys a lot, and expect beers like this will continue to get better over time. they are still pretty new!
