Merkel is an oak ripened country beer of mixed fermentation, rested upon whole Montmorency cherries for a good long while.

500 mL bottle. Pours clear pale reddish. Smells of light cherry, bubble gum, juicy candy. Tastes of bubble gum and unsweet cherry. The cherry is totally different from the Balaton varietal. Light in every aspect with a strong bubble gum and candy profile. Earthy finish. Very light. At first, I thought it was bland. But after a few sips, I start to appreciate that it isn't a heavy-handed cherry flavor. I should also note that it hints at band aid, but doesn't ever get there.

2019 harvest.
This one pours a slightly hazy golden red color, with a big fluffy head and lots of lacing.
This smells like maraschino cherry, funky cherry, oak, and red wine.
This is pretty straightforward, as this series goes, with a fairly dominant sweet and slightly funky cherry character, with a touch of woody oak spice. I get a bit of tannic character, and very little acidity.
This is light bodied, and super crisp finishing, with a very clean feel to it overall.
This is probably middle of the road for Merkel variants. It’s a nice little beverage.

Pours a beautiful rose color that immediately screams “cherry beer”. Robust and appealing head with medium head retention. Smells extremely appealing, especially if like me, you enjoy beers of this type. Plenty of carbonation, but the right amount for this style, and overall a good mouthfeel. Initially, a clear taste of cherry, but without being overwhelming. Cherry is followed by a nice funk taste. Overall, another very good Suarez beer.
