New Image Brewing’s take on the classic Belgian Wit but with a unique citrus twist! Using German Noble hops and skipping the traditional orange peel and coriander, this witbier has the notes of clove you’d expect but with the juicy, freshness of blood orange to change it up.

Blood orange is an interesting fruit to use for a witbier, but this one actually worked. It was very mild and light, but you could still get the citrus flavor coming through clearly. It's not as clove-heavy as traditional wits, so I'd almost call this a fruity and less hoppy blonde ale, but either way it was great on a hot night.

Bought two cans from Beer Drop.
Nice wit, but no cigar.
I want to like New Image. It is a five year old brewer in Old Town Arvada, a district that is being regenerated actively with breweries and eateries and some shopping; and includes a suburban train service. But New Image is an IPA brewer with 130 brews in six years; very few are lagers and this is their most rated wit and a handful of others in the Belgian tradition. That's OK for a youngster, especially one that seems to take seriously their bar food and sandwiches to create brewing's full effect. But, all that does not give me much reason to understand why Moped is an average wit.
It Opens with decent foam, but... where is the blood orange? I get a hint of citrus medley in the nose, but it is hard for me to find the orange. Tastes are balanced, not sweet. I will have Moped with an average meal tonight of leftovers ... but they won't make each other better like they should. Finishes refreshing.
My second from New Image. I'm sure they will grow their business. But of 9k other American crafters, I'll keep looking.
4/5/21 Had the second can and really cannot change the rating. I'll see what folks thought at UnTappd in case I was too hard on Moped.

T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of orange peel along with hints of wheat.
M: It feels a touch more than light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.

ive been drinking this beer for two weeks straight, and i am probably going to keep drinking it all summer, its a really tasty and well made brew, something a little different from these guys. its a wit with blood orange, but its neither overly fruited and sweet, nor overly belgian yeasty and estery, its restrained in the right ways, nuanced not forced, and it allows the wheat to be flavorful here, which seems obvious but sometimes can be a missing element when other ingredients are allowed to run too wild. here we have a nice balanced and frothy brew, rich feeling but very dry, with notes of lemongrass and orange zest and dried flowers in the nose and taste, subtle pear and apple to the yeast, cool with the added blood orange, and a little coriander seed herbaceousness, simple and well made and well rounded, with great carbonation and creamy expansiveness and a really summery sort of energy about it. its light enough to drink a whole bunch of, and it warms up decently well too, which makes sense in the summer. these guys of course make awesome hoppy beer, but its cool to see them nail a belgian style like this so well! these will be on hand all summer!
