This blend of two large-format English-style barleywine barrels was aged in 14 year old George Dickel barrels for 31 months. We selected a range of vanilla beans from Uganda, Congo, Ecuador, Sri Lanka, and Vanuatu to complement and enhance the deep character of our base barleywine. These beans brought out layers of rich caramel, dark chocolate, figs, prunes, and raisins, along with notes of nutmeg, dried apricot, cherry, warm spices, and a subtle touch of floral earth. Over time, these flavors unfold in a slow, evolving ware, revealing the complexity and depth of this unique creation.

I may or may not be drunk & watching WHAM! videos while enjoying this 750ML by myself past midnight. For reasons I hope to forget by the time my head clears around noon.

The pour is a mucky, murky brown with slight red L'Oreal highlights clinging to the edges. Smells weirdly of an amber ale dipped in whiskey.

Otterzzzzz undersells the best barrel program in MN. It's heavy & thicc for a barleywine, to the point that the casual beer aficionado that would pay $50/bottle might mistake it for a stout. Terribly sweet, even for a guy with a tongue mostly made of sweetness. The vanilla is in overkill range...for a guy who loves vanilla. The result is a beer where everything is over-the-top, & not in a great way.

Overall? Pretty good. But I long to write a review using only WHAM! lyrics. Stay tuned. Literally.

Sweet molasses and brown sugar, cinnamon raisin toast with vanilla icing, and a warming, vanilla-bourbon barrel boozy nose on this one! Taste follows very closely with a prominent vanilla bean and bourbon barrel finish. This has a wonderful mouthfeel to it. I think this would have been better served to be a touch sweeter upfront and the vanilla addition dialed back a bit. Still fantastic!
