So sorry that this peaked in 2024. I was excited for their Baltic Tripel after having just raved about their Dubbel. (Both were bought at Cellarbrations in Newcastle... a good bottleshop with a wonderful selection.)

Besides peaking last year, Baltic Tripel also seems to have a flaccid yeast. So it really Looks like not much foam... average for the style, at best. For the same reason, Smells of this fruity, yeasty, uplifting beverage are also flat and barely above the average. Flavours are OK, but there is no excitement. It will not be a useful comment for me to imagine what this Tasted like when it was young. Regrettably, light-mouthed for the style.

However because I was so impressed by the Dubbel from Rugener Insel, I still giving them very good Overall Hugs.

Copenhagen 18/9 2024. 33 cl paper-wrapped bottle from Private Selection, Amagercenteret, Kbh. S. A couple of Ostrich on the paper wrapping.

Pours slightly unclear yellow with a big white head. Stable. Settles as a 4 cm thick layer of foam obscuring the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with alcohol. Sweet pale malts, bread and sugar. Bubblegum. Sharp edge of alcohol.

Low carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitternes. Aftertaste is sweetish with a boozy undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry.

A very sweet and boozy take on a Tripel.

330 ml paper wrapped bottle, from Edeka Sophienhof, Kiel. ABV is 9.5%. Slightly hazy pale golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of Belgian ale yeast, grain and dusty loft. The flavour is citric, also spicy from the yeast, with warming alcohol. Moderately sweet, moderate hops.

Look: clear yellow with a medium white head, would prefer a little haze

Smell: yeast, malt, some floral notes, no banana

Taste: smell carries through here ok but not great

Feel: nice and bubbly

Malty smell, balsamic, mint, green wood.
Again balsamic in the taste, anise, in the aftertaste too.
Very fresh, 9.5 ABV hidden.
German Baltic Tripel. Boh.
But in the end, not bad.

Didn't impress me. Yeast is not as nicely presenting pear and pepper as in other more refined examples and it is also too sweet leaning more towards US examples than the dry Belgium ones. Also the carbonation of this bottel conditioned beer is only creating a mediocre foam instead of a fluffy pillow. I will stick to my Belgiums.

330ml bottle served in a big snifter. 31.03.19. Brought to me by a friend from Germany.

Pours a nice hazy golden with a big coarse head. Lots of carbonation. Smell is bananas and yeast, maybe a hint of clove, smells pretty tripelly.

Taste is nice, too -- light, banana flavor, yeasty, surprisingly refreshing.

Mouthfeel is light and fluffy. Overall, this is a good beer (and also the best German Tripel I've ever had...).

From the bottle, it pours a light golden color with a modest head, which stays awhile. Nicely scented with some bread and spice. Taste is pleasant and repeatable.
