Smoked wheat grodziskie! A low 3.5% ABV combined with a mild and pleasant smoked wheat character, head retention for daaaaze, and a clean crisp thirst quenching finish.

Pours a near white pale straw with a medium haze. Head starts decently enough, and leaves streamers of lacing as the thick collar and thin sheath lay atop the liquid.

Nose hits on the main two aspects of this beer - smoke and wheat. Mostly the smoke comes out, medium in strength on a light beer. The wheat sits underneath with its light banana notes.

The body is quite light on this, and the carbonation is pretty effervescent. Smoke and wheat share the stage. I got more smoke initially, but as I got used to it, the nuttiness of the grain and a light lemon note as well as a hint of banana started to be more noticeable. Fairly dry, the smoke regains the back with a bit of a mineral note. Smoke lingers lightly after the sip.

First beer I’ve had specifically called a Grodziskie, and this seems to hit the qualities of the Wikipedia description of the style well enough. I really enjoyed it at first, but the carbonation actually seemed to work to numb my taste buds a bit and water the beer down a tad.
