Ginger Lemon RadlerGinger Lemon Radler
Notes: Ginger Lemon Radler is a zesty, refreshing take on the tradition of mixing beer with soda or lemonade to create a light, thirst-quenching beverage ideal for warm weather. Radler (literally “cyclist,”) takes its name from active German sportsmen of a hundred years ago, but our version tastes just as good even if you do nothing more strenuous than lifting it to your lips.

Poured from a 12oz can: Poured a Bright yellow with a foamy white color two finger head with a slight haze and a good amount of carbonation. Upon pour, sweet notes of lemon and ginger are obvious, and try to hide the bready smell of the wheats and grassy hops aromas. Many say the aroma is very ginger forward, and is followed by the smell of lemon. However I feel just the opposite and feel that they make for a good contrasting balance. Overall Ginger Lemon Radler is light, yet medium bodied, crisp, refreshing, and full of flavor. This beer is great for a hot summer day, or a good drink to pair with your lunch.

Ginger Lemon Radler pours a hazy yellow color, with a very small head. Big ginger aroma. Flavor is also full of ginger, with a good hint of lemon near the end. Good body and feel, and very refreshing. Overall, very tasty if you like ginger.

Poured from 12oz can into glass. Canning date engraved on bottom of can is 'L041418 16:36'.
Cloudy, straw colored body. Slight white fizzy head quickly disappears but leaves a thin bubble fed ring. Leaves behind a few tiny spots of lacing.
Aroma of lemon, ginger, and malt.
Sweet/tart taste of lemon, with ginger. I get a sense of salt also.
Light, thin mouth feel. Good carbonation.
The can bears the logo of 'BRIGHT CITRUS ZING', and this is a good summary of the experience with this beer. Has quite a bit of dryness at the end, which stops this beer from being totally refreshing.

It is a hazy yellow color. What head is present in the pour disappears quickly.
Strong ginger aroma, with lemon taking the backseat.
Tart lemon comes through more in the taste, but there is still an awful lot of ginger.
Not as refreshing as I thought it would be.

Pours a foggy, frosty dark yellow with a finger of white fizz that fizzles away rather quick leaving a still looking beverage in the glass. Aroma is ginger right up front, with a zesty twist of sour lemon. Flavor profile is more so lemons with a ginger in the back. Both are very apparent, but contrast each other well forming a balanced beer despite having a stark contrast. Mouth feel is crisp and refreshing, with a medium-thin thickness. Overall, a refreshing beer - for those who enjoy ginger. The "ginger" addition on the label is no joke. It's an incredible summer sipper though.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 12oz can.

I have been meaning to try this one for a while & when I found it in CANs, I just knew that I needed to add it to The CANQuest (tm)!

From the CAN: "Kansas City * Since 1989"; "Sunshine season class for a uniquely refreshing brew with added zing. Ginger Lemon Radler is our take on the classic German 'cyclist' - bright and easy-drinking, with tangy citrus and a touch of ginger spice."

I did a little in-CAN agitation before performing the Crack!, but it did not seem to have had much effect. An inverted Glug also failed to generate much more than a light haze. However, I did get just under two fingers of fizzy, foamy, bone-white head with modest retention. Color was a lightly-hazy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose was pretty redolent with ginger, but the lemon was also coming through nicely. I was reminded of tea or cough drops, but neither in a negative way. It just smelled appropriate for its name. Mouthfeel was kind of thin, watery and unobtrusive. The taste was heavily weighted towards the ginger, which was appropriate, since it got top billing. The lemon flavor added a tart dimension that was perhaps unnecessary, but still enjoyable. Finish was dry, as any beer with spice should be, but I am not sure that it was entirely refreshing. I would want this less after a bicycle ride & more with sushi or Chinese food, like at Tony Wang's.

Ginger-Lemon Radler Brewed by Boulevard Brewing Co., with an ABV of 4.10% This brew pours out a nice cloudy amber color with a small white head . Ginger-Lemon Radler is an unfiltered brew, you can not see though the glass. There is some spotty lacing to this brew, it stick to the side of the glass. The smell is rich with lemon and spices , mostly ginger. You also pick up on some nice grains and hops in the smell as well. Hops are little to none. Now for the taste, it is bitter sweet, with a nice ginger kick. This is a real nice smooth easy going brew. The body of Ginger-Lemon Radler is a nice light. This brew would go nice on a hot summer day. There is a lot going on in this brew, there is nothing overpowering about this brew. If you are a fan of lemon you have to give this brew a try. The mouth feel of Ginger-Lemon Radler is Bold, Crisp, Lemon, Sweet, Spicy and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving this brew a 4.25 out of 5. I would definitely look this brew up again giving the chance to.Boulevard Brewing Co., Did a real nice job with this one.

Boulevard Brewing Co. "Ginger Lemon Radler"
12 fl. oz. can, "Best By 08/22/17" and sampled on 08/11/17
$2 @ Weis Market, Conshohocken, PA

Look: Very hazy yellow-gold body beneath a foamy bright white head that holds well but leaves little lacing behind.

Smell: Fresh ginger with a lemony and malty background.

Taste: Sweetish and malty with clear ginger and a soft tartness and hint of lemon flavor. It's not sweet like soda-pop as some can be. Nicely balanced with some grainy malt character. Moderately bitter, and a touch spicy with ginger in the mainly dry finish.

Feel: Medium-light in body and gently crisp.

Overall: Pleasant and refreshing.

Ginger-Lemon Radler | Boulevard Brewing Co. Poured from the can into a pint glass, the head's three fingers thick, with spotty lacing, and a hazed golden yellow body.

Smells like inviting ginger with the lemon zing I was expecting.

I taste a bright, crisp, and clean version of the smell with a mild sweetness; nothing too heavy.

Medium-light mouthfeel with fair carbonation.

Overall, I'll rate Ginger-Lemon Radler | Boulevard Brewing Co. with a 4.5. Look this up for a damn satisfying summertime quencher.

Nice hazy look to this brew with not much head. Sweet lemon ginger scent to this brew. To me the flavor is too sweet and lemony with a slight tart ending. Well carbonated and light mouthfeel. I found myself describing it as "soda-like". Not bad but I wouldn't revisit.

T: the ginger and lemon are nicely balanced from start to finish; no bitterness; lightly tart;

M: light bodied; highly carbonated - effervescent; dry finish;

O: very refreshing;

Sweet tart lemon with hints of the ginger. Spritzy and fresh. Cloudy pale lemon yellow dense white head.
Tart lemon with sharpness from some acid and carbonation. Soft ginger blends with the pale malt character. Tart much more than bitter, although there is smoothness that cuts any sweetness. Fully carbonated which seems about right for this type of drink, but it leads to some fullness when drinking - I suppose help in keeping it from too quick of slamming.
Refreshing but not completely crisp, although qualities of crisp. The taste linger a bit with the lemon and a little tartness hanging around.
A nice summer drink. I like what the ginger adds to the flavor and aroma.

$ 1.79 (Including tax)/12 oz can ($ 0.149/oz) at The Lager Mill, Frankenmuth, MI
Best by 6/24/16 at 42 degrees into a Lager Mill snifter
Aroma – lemon and some ginger
Head large (Maximum 4.3 cm, aggressive pour), white, fizzy/frothy, rapidly diminishing to a two mm ring and small partial layer
Lacing – none
Body light yellow, hazy and translucent
Flavor – refreshingly lemon, ginger not apparent; no hops, no malt, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate – light, watery, soft carbonation

It’s a radler and that speaks to its limitations. For a past date radler, however, it’s still quite refreshing and, dare I say it, good.

Appearance 4, Aroma 4, Flavor 4, Palate 4, Overall 4.

This beer pours a slightly cloudy yellow with a full head. There is a solid amount of ginger in the aroma, a little lemon, and a wheat like base beer scent. The flavor offers a stronger taste of lemon juice, ginger, with some spice. It mild and very pleasant. The mouthfeel is very light and fizzy. Overall this is light, refreshing, and well done.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Lagunitas mason glass.

L: Pours a semi-opaque medium golden color. Thin white head.. no significant lacing.

S: Ginger and lemon... heavy on the ginger.

T/F: Lemonade and ginger... not a lot of 'beer' elements here. Semi-sweet and tart... not a bad sweet/sour combo. The only thing that's not working for me is the ginger. Zesty carbonation... thin in body.

O: A passable radler, that honestly would be better without the ginger. Good for a hot summer's day or after doing some yard work.... maybe good for some chill time on the beach.

Poured from the can into a nonic pint glass.

Unfiltered opaque deep yellow body color, with a touch of haze and fine carbonation. Creamy one and a half finger bright white head, which is fairly tight in appearance settles to a very thin puck and collar.

Aroma smells like straight up ginger beer. Large amounts of ginger and a refreshing snap and bite, not unlike a good quality ginger brew. But is this a radler or a ginger brew, or beer? I am confused.

Palate gets a bit more closer to radler concept. Lemon light tartness with a mild sweet tangy flavor. First sip is light malts and a good depth, followed by a nice lemon sweetness. Ginger isn't so big on the palate compared to the nose, but follows later after subsequent sips. Light bodied but with a touch of slight prickly carbonation, but decent almost chewy mouthfeel.

A solid radler, and even a touch of beer malt character depth to go with it too.

I will hand it to Boulevard in the sense that they have made a beer that has a great amount of authentic ginger aroma & taste. That makes it all the more surprising how artifical & cloying the lemon flavor presents itself. There are very few discernible beer notes, but it's ultimately a decent, inoffensive "thirst quencher" that I'll give a pass to purely because i like ginger.

Poured a yellow-golden color with a 3 F head.
Good aroma: mostly ginger, some malt, and sweet.
Moderately carbonated.
The taste is similar to ginger ale- not much different.
There is also a certain sweetness to the taste which some craft beer drinkers may not appreciate. The ginger was overwhelming to me- the beer tasted more like ginger ale and not beer.

Overall, it's actually a well brewed beer. Lightly carbonated, sweet, heavily ginger.
It's just not my style.

This is a very good tasting beverage. Lots of lemon with little zings of ginger here and there. Smells delicious too, like sweet lemonade. It reminds me of a shandy, but with even more juicy lemonade flavor. It's hard to think of this as a beer, reminds me more of a mixed drink, but boy it sure does taste good.

I picked up a can of Boulevard's Ginger-Lemon Radler for $1.69 at The Lager Mill. It's pretty hot today and I thought it would be a good time to try a new Radler, so let's see how it goes. 2016 Vintage. Poured from a 12oz can into imperial pint glass.

A- The can looks good, it's got a nice design and it's eye catching. It poured a hazy pale yellow color that took on more of a brighter yellow color similar to lemonade when held to the light with under a half a fingers worth of off white bubbly head that faded to nothing and it didn't really leave and lacing behind. This is an ok looking beer, it seems to be pretty standard looking for the style.

S- The aroma starts off with a lower amount of high sweetness with a sweet candied lemon aroma being the first to show up and it goes into more of a lemonade like aroma with the ginger being noticeable in the background and it had a little bit of ginger ale like aspect to it. Towards the end there's some more sweet malt like aromas with no other malty aroma showing up and it had a typical alcopop aroma. The aroma is ok, it's pretty standard for the style, but it's not very beer like.

T- The taste seems to be fairly similar to the aroma and it starts off with that same higher amount of sweetness with the lemonade flavors being the first to show up and it's just a little lighter than it was in the aroma and it's followed by the ginger which imparts that same ginger ale aspect that I got in the aroma and it's also a little lighter this time. Up next comes a slightly higher amount of medium tartness followed by some malt flavors with some grainy, pale malt and doughy malt flavors with some lingering tartness on the finish with a citrus and lemon like alcopop aftertaste. This is an ok tasting Radler, but to me that flavors to blend that well together.

M- Fairly smooth, a little refreshing, pretty crisp, not too acidic, on the thicker side of being light bodied with a lower amount of high carbonation. This beer has a pretty nice mouthfeel, it;s what I would expect from the style.

Overall I thought this was an ok beer and I thought it was pretty average for the style, nothing really stood out about it except for the things I didn't like and it felt like it was just a little bit of beer mixed with half lemonade and half ginger ale. This beer didn't have the best drinkability, one is more than enough for me. What I like the most about this beer is the mouthfeel, it's pretty nice and it works well with this beer. What I like the least about this beer is the way the flavors blend together, they just clash a little and it isn't a flavor that makes me want to come back for more. I don't think I would buy this beer again and I might turn one down. All in all I wasn't a big fan of this beer, it's ok for the style, but it wasn't something that I really enjoyed. It's one of my least favorite Boulevard beers and it's average at best for the style. Better luck next time guys, this one just wasn't for me.
