L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had an orange / amber color and a mostly cloudy consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, off white, somewhat long-lasting head. Pretty good lacing.

S: A very good aroma of caramel, malt, hops, citrus fruit, brown sugar, and light fruit.

T: Tasted of bit of hops (less than expected, but still present), a good shot of caramel (quite sweet, but never cloyingly so), a bit of brown sugar, a decent bit of malt (a solid backbone of), some citrus fruit (orange, in particular), and a little light fruit (apples). A well formed, focused, and complex flavor. Tasty stuff.

F: A pretty good amount of carbonation with a lively finish. Medium-bodied.

O: On the whole, a very well done barleywine. Drinkable.

Pours a ruddy and effervescent amber/orange with a rather thin & fat falling tan head. Better than average head retention and lacing

S: Dark fruit & breadyness

T: Follows the nose, sweet orange notes, cakeyness & dryness with just a little booze warmth. Boozey banana bread and brown sugar notes are apparent as this warms, candied cherry and orange notes, this beer would pair well with a classic Christmas Fruitcake or Pudding. Finishes a little dry with some booze bite, sweet oranges plus cakeyness

MF: Medium/heavy body, slight carbonation. Carbonation sharpens a bit as this warms, gets a bit stickier

This is a true Winter/Holiday treat; rich & full of flavor. ABV is felt and tasted, but in harmony with what the style and intent is

My word... This thing is beautiful on all levels. I mean, this is some Girl With A Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer kind of stuff. The pour, the aroma, and then how it beautifuly tasted and hit my tongue... Wow, this thang gives Raul bad thoughts and good thoughts at the same time. Like, it makes me wanna do bad things to my baby mama in a good way.

Ok, I have to get out of here! Peace!

Poured from a bottle. Deep caramel in color with a thin tan head. Smells a bit boozy with hints of vanilla and spice. Flavors could be a long list and different people will pull out different ones. I'm getting caramel, vanilla, rye, and herbal touches. A lot going on here. It does have a slight boozy hint but not as much as you would expect being that it's 14.3 avb.

From the 12 oz bottle (that I will lay down for a few years) in a snifter.
This fantastical barley wine pours a chill hazed, dark, brown tinged
amber color with a nice head of white foam that settles to a thick
ring, thin dusty layer, and shows some nice light lacing. Nose of
light rye, light whiskey, oak, vanilla, booze, vinous notes, and
sweet caramel elements. Flavors hit the mark and then some
with caramel, oak, sherry, merlot, vanilla, spicy rye, herbal
and pine hops, and moderate vanilla. Excellent mouth feel;
medium body, smooth as silk, lightly coating, rich, light
carbonation, and a sweet dry finish.

Overall.....WOW.....nothing more to say than WOW, best
new style barley wine ale I have had in ages!

Get some, drink some, age some!

Thin ring of head, light brown body.

Vanilla and malt.

Big hit of vanilla and wood and brown sugar. Nothing fruity, despite the wine barreling, but alcohol's present and has a burn on the end that's nothing to complain about. Exactly what I was looking for, really.

Sharp, pronounced, bold -- all things that make a good barleywine.

Poured from fridge temp. Pours dark brown/red with quickly dissipating head. Nose is red grapes, dark fruit, rye spice, toffee, and sherry. Really nice. The taste is insanely good. First comes the toffee - really nice and strong. Bright dark fruits - plum and red grapes mainly - come through. Apricots, rye, and sherry also come through on the taste. Figs and some oak spice are there as well. Overall, a phenomenal barrel-aged barleywine. All the great characteristics of an English barleywine, but with a nice wine note to it. Alcohol heat is minimal, and the aftertaste is almost all sweet (but not too strong). A big win for me.
