12 ounce bottle, 2021 vintage, please enjoy by date of 23 SEP 2023 stamped on the back label. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this brew! Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with not quite an inch tan head. Head retention is good, not much lacing at all. Aroma is nice but subtle, the brew smells like cocoa, vanilla, cream, dark fruit and a hint of bourbon. Luckily the flavor has more kick to it, and has the addition of some oak, caramel and roasted malt flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's coating with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. I thought it was a good overall brew, worth a try for sure!

12oz bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours a viscous jet black color with a one-finger creamy dark tan head that has good retention

S- smells of oaky bourbon barrel up front, with undertones of cocoa, milk chocolate, heavy cream and light vanilla bean

T- plenty up barrel up front with a distinct barrel juice note, followed by plenty of oak. Mid-palate brings out some malty sweetness, with notes of milk chocolate and heavy whipping cream. The finish gives notes of caramel and toffee, along with more barrel. The linger brings out soft vanilla and more oaky barrel

M- heavy body with moderate carbonation leads to a thick and creamy mouthfeel that continues into a viscous, almost chewy, warming finish

O- plenty of barrel to be had in this one with a fantastic chewy mouthfeel. Only downside was that the vanilla seemed to be a bit overpowered

Poured from a bottle into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a nearly pitch-black color with almost no head, just a trace of brown foam on the surface of the brew. The thickness of the brew can be seen upon pouring and when swirling in the glass. Thick and viscous, having the consistency of motor oil.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is massive of a big boozy bourbon smell mixed with tons of roast and a whole lot of cocoa. Mixed with these big aromas comes plenty of vanilla and notes of caramel, molasses, and brown sugar. At the same time, there is a rather decent showing of a raisin and plum as well as some char and burnt toast, producing a very deep, dark, sweet, and warming smell overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a huge roasted malt and very sweet flavor, with the sweet being predominantly of a brown sugar and caramel sweetness, but with it also having some dark fruits (raisin and prune) as well as a decent showing of milk chocolate. Right from the start there is also a nice warming boozy bourbon like taste that intensifies as the taste advances forward. At the same time some char and leather like flavors develop, all while the roastiness drops a touch. A vanilla flavor begins to pick up a bit more at the end, and with more sweetness and more booziness on the tongue, one is left with a very deep and rich, alcohol warming stout flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is super thick with a rather low carbonation level. For the massive and boozy flavors of the brew the feel is spot on, making for a nice slow and warming sipper.
Overall – This is one big ol’ brew. Intense to say the least, but in a very good way. Its very boozy, but not obnoxiously so. Same goes for the sweet. Overall definitely a fun one to try and one I will likely seek out to age for a few years to see how it develops.

Pour is jet black with minimal cinnamon head; just a slight ring around the glass.
Nose upfront is a huge wave of bourbon, vanilla, coconut, fudge.
Taste is bourbon upfront, followed by a hint of warming alcohol heat, vanilla, fudge. lactose doesn't overpower
thick, creamy body. delicious

Pours deep and dark. With 3/4 inch tan head. Pretty. Could smell the chocolate and vanilla right away. Taste was rich and heavy the way a good Imp stout should. Sorry to only get one. Hopefully can find some more.

Barrel Aged Boulevard Beers have begun flowing into our market again & I appreciate the consideration! 12 oz. bottle.

Black & blacker Nose is near entirely chocolate.

Stuff of Legend pummels the palate. Bourbon suffuses everything it touches & sticks like dark glue, dragging along strong secondary cocoa & vanilla. Massive malts add to an impression of cookie/diabetes sweetness that runs through the finish & into my nascent cavities. Borderline pastry; with my sweet tooth & the quality of the beer I could drink more of this. The rare beer that belongs in bigger containers.

Another borderline stunner from this brewery except this one is closer to that border than most. Excellent beer. Make more. Send more.

Solid bourbon barrel aged beer with an excessive 13% ABV that not only comes out in the taste but also in the body with a good burn. I regret buying a four pack maybe some age will do it better? Really couldn't taste much beyond the barrel and bourbon very little actual chocolate frosting or even vanilla flavor. Skip this one!

A - Dark brown pour with thin lacing that dissipates very quickly.

S - Chocolate and cocoa on the nose with alot of booze.

T - Chocolate malt base and vanilla is shadowed by Bourbon and alcohol on the frontside with a lingering sweet chocolate char mess on the backside.

M - Thick, silky, borderline frothy, and coagulating with alcohol warming in the back of the throat.

O - Solid but not legendary.

Pours black, fleeting khaki head. Eventually (quickly) there is a ring of Don Ho bubbles and a small island in the middle of the cup.

Smells a tad bit boozy. Not particularly bourbon-like. Definitely some vanilla, I think milk chocolate, and slightly sweet. Woody, can pick up the barrel for sure. Kind of a molasses note as well. The malts are pretty much in the background, but they hold their own once you find them.

Ok...it tastes boozy, clearly bourbon-like, and oaky. He somewhat vague aroma- yeah that isn't happening in the taste. That's the initial salvo and it is BIG. The vanilla dares to peek out just a little. The roast malts that are in the background are significantly more assertive on the taste - gives a clear stout identity. Mild sweetness. The chocolate isn't as milk chocolate as I thought, more bitter and richer. Oreo...yeah, I can see that but it takes a bit of convincing. Not screaming Oreo, more like making the suggestion.

Feel is medium, a bit of sweetness sticks on the lips. It isn't really hot to the point of burn, but the alcohol is obvious. Pretty low carbonation but not out of bounds for the style. Sweet but also slightly dry, a charred acrid feel well after the swallow

Overall, it's a good brew if a bit too heavy on the barrel. I believe it will improve with age. I'm not enthusiastically drinking it down...sipping my way through and thinking about it. Needs to meld, IMHO.

Presumptuously named beer from a 12oz. bottle with a best before date of Sept 23 2023.
This one was fresh and it could have used a year or 2 to..... refine itself.
The "Stuff" pours syrupy, used motor oily, dense and inky dark, An aggressive pour produced no head.
Very aggressive swirling of the goblet made a low, red-brown head billow up but dissipated as quickly as it formed, leaving no lace or trace.
The aroma is whisky soaked oak slathered in molasses. Booze dominates the nose and not even in a bad way to this whisky hater, though certainly more than the malt welcome I look for in an Imp Stout. But I knew what this was when I opened it and the smells are no surprise if a bit much for me. Others will, I'm sure, love it.
Flavors are intense and ultra sweet - this needs to age imho. It tastes under-fermented - under done like a doughy chocolate cookie with white icing. Some folks like 'em that way. I prefer mine at least crispy on the edges, as I do my stouts.
All the flavors are there - rich scorched brown sugar and charred grains, chocolate and chocolate malt, notes of ground coffee and brown bread but all in a syrupy, sugary soup that demands tiny sips.
Alcohol carries the day and dominates the profile.
Mouthfeel is cloying, super heavy and palate crushing. Aftertaste is a long lingering charcoal and black grain dryness with hints of more molasses on the fringes.
At some point an adult has to step in and say NO to the milk sugar use these days. It does NOT replace proper fermentation control and grain selection. It provides no real body and has all the mouth feel of marshmallow fluff.
A nicely potent fireside sipper to share with friends NEXT Holiday season.

12oz bottle from Brewers Haven. Black pour, flat. Sweet, chocolate aroma, light roast, hint of vanilla. Taste amps up the sweetness, bringing more Oreo flavors as well as a hit of booze. ABV even more apparent as it warms. A bit sweet, overall, but nails the Oreo vibe.

Pitch black, decent initial head that leaves some lacing

Vanilla, roasted malt, bourbon in the nose

Vanilla, roasted malt, cocoa, oak, bourbon in the finish. Not getting oreo necessarily but that doesn't matter. Enjoyable blend of flavors.

Super smooth, medium thick.

Bordering on cloying but a pretty nice sipper.

From the back label: "PLEASE ENJOY BY: 23SEP2023 E L092321 10:06"

Appearance: It is a black bodied beer with a very short film of small khaki bubbles that quickly fades into a thin ring around the glass. No lacing.

Aroma: There is a pleasant bourbon aroma to the beer with notes of wet oak.

Taste: Up front there is a hint of dark chocolate. As the beer approaches the center of the palate it picks up a stronger chocolate character. There is a light bit of bourbon flavor in the middle as well. The flavors don't develop much as it crosses the palate and it stays consistent throughout the drinking experience.

Mouthfeel: The body is in the medium range but it also feels a tad thin. The label does state that it is "13.3% ALC/VOL." so the thinness isn't a detractor for such a high ABV beer. It does a really good job of hiding the alcohol content as well. There is a pleasant texture to the beer as well, giving it a somewhat smooth character.

Overall: The label on this beer states that this is a "BARREL-AGED STOUT WITH VANILLA AND COCOA FLAVORS." It does have a nice chocolate character and the barrel character definitely comes through in the form of what tastes like bourbon. The vanilla seems to be lost in the mix. There is a cookie on the label that looks like an Oreo or Hydrox cookie, giving the impression that they were shooting for that kind of flavor. It does have a chocolate flavor similar to what is found in a Hydrox cookie, but the stuffing for frosting inside isn't there. It might not be for you if you want something that tastes like an Oreo, but if you are looking for a nice barrel-aged stout then this definitely works. I could drink it again from time to time and I would recommend it.
