This beer is our homage to all of those wonder-filled cookies. While you can’t twist, lick and dunk, there is still fun to be had in this big barrel-aged stout with just the right blend of chocolate and vanilla, and a creamy filling of lactose.

Malt: pale, Dark Crystal, brown, Rye Crystal, Cara 300, Cara 50, chocolate, Midnight Wheat, oats
Hops: Columbus
Adjuncts, cocoa, vanilla, bourbon barrels

Black in color with no light penetration. There’s a fingernail of brown around the rim. The aroma is of vanilla, cocoa, and bourbon. I’m tasting cocoa, vanilla, and bourbon. The mouth is thick and alcoholic.

12 ounce bottle into a snifter. Best by 9/23/23, had 2/7/22.

Pours near black and opaque, oily looking, with a quarter inch head of darker foam and some tight, foamy lacing. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, roasted malt, light bourbon, some oak. Flavors of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, cocoa, oak, roasted malt, light caramel, some char. Has a little bit of an herbal finish. Smooth, a little creamy, a solid full body, appropriately carbonated.

Lots of chocolate and vanilla, the barrels shine in the flavor. A sneaky amount of wood, too. Best fully warmed. Not as creative as many of their BA’s, but quite good.

Snuck over to Bine & Vine to pick up the North Park anniversary beer. Ended up coming away with seven other beers as well. Their website called this “This beer is STUFFED with the nostalgia of peeling open that classic blue wrapper and seeing row after row of sandwich cookie goodness! When you pour this decadent stout into a glass you’ll instantly get aromas of chocolate, vanilla, and bourbon courtesy of more than a year of barrel aging. With mild carbonation, Stuff of Legend has a rich, smooth and creamy mouthfeel. With 100% of the beer dunked in (get it) bourbon barrels, Stuff of Legend comes in at 13.3% ABV and is truly a grown-up dessert in a glass. For those that love an evening sweet treat or perhaps a nice snifter of whiskey (or both?), we think this beer fits the bill for everyone looking for just a little something to cap off a great meal.”

Poured a very dark color with two fingers of fizzy khaki-tan head. Serene, calm setting underneath. Bad lacing. Average retention. (Sight - 3.25)

Smelled milk chocolate, cocoa, cookie dough, vanilla, chocolate syrup and smooth bourbon. A little better out of the bottle with the addition of chocolate milk. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted just as good as the nose. In order cot cocoa, milk chocolate, cookie dough, vanilla, chocolate syrup, smooth oaky bourbon, caramel and toffee. Felt light for 13.3 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.25)

Full body. Sticky texture. Soft carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 4.50)

Just a really good beer. Great bang for the buck. (Overall - 4.25)

12 ounce bottle, 2021 vintage, please enjoy by date of 23 SEP 2023 stamped on the back label. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this brew! Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with not quite an inch tan head. Head retention is good, not much lacing at all. Aroma is nice but subtle, the brew smells like cocoa, vanilla, cream, dark fruit and a hint of bourbon. Luckily the flavor has more kick to it, and has the addition of some oak, caramel and roasted malt flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's coating with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. I thought it was a good overall brew, worth a try for sure!

12oz bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours a viscous jet black color with a one-finger creamy dark tan head that has good retention

S- smells of oaky bourbon barrel up front, with undertones of cocoa, milk chocolate, heavy cream and light vanilla bean

T- plenty up barrel up front with a distinct barrel juice note, followed by plenty of oak. Mid-palate brings out some malty sweetness, with notes of milk chocolate and heavy whipping cream. The finish gives notes of caramel and toffee, along with more barrel. The linger brings out soft vanilla and more oaky barrel

M- heavy body with moderate carbonation leads to a thick and creamy mouthfeel that continues into a viscous, almost chewy, warming finish

O- plenty of barrel to be had in this one with a fantastic chewy mouthfeel. Only downside was that the vanilla seemed to be a bit overpowered

Poured from a bottle into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a nearly pitch-black color with almost no head, just a trace of brown foam on the surface of the brew. The thickness of the brew can be seen upon pouring and when swirling in the glass. Thick and viscous, having the consistency of motor oil.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is massive of a big boozy bourbon smell mixed with tons of roast and a whole lot of cocoa. Mixed with these big aromas comes plenty of vanilla and notes of caramel, molasses, and brown sugar. At the same time, there is a rather decent showing of a raisin and plum as well as some char and burnt toast, producing a very deep, dark, sweet, and warming smell overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a huge roasted malt and very sweet flavor, with the sweet being predominantly of a brown sugar and caramel sweetness, but with it also having some dark fruits (raisin and prune) as well as a decent showing of milk chocolate. Right from the start there is also a nice warming boozy bourbon like taste that intensifies as the taste advances forward. At the same time some char and leather like flavors develop, all while the roastiness drops a touch. A vanilla flavor begins to pick up a bit more at the end, and with more sweetness and more booziness on the tongue, one is left with a very deep and rich, alcohol warming stout flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is super thick with a rather low carbonation level. For the massive and boozy flavors of the brew the feel is spot on, making for a nice slow and warming sipper.
Overall – This is one big ol’ brew. Intense to say the least, but in a very good way. Its very boozy, but not obnoxiously so. Same goes for the sweet. Overall definitely a fun one to try and one I will likely seek out to age for a few years to see how it develops.

Nose upfront is a huge wave of bourbon, vanilla, coconut, fudge.
Taste is bourbon upfront, followed by a hint of warming alcohol heat, vanilla, fudge. lactose doesn't overpower
