473 mL can from the LCBO; dated XX/05/19 (it's smudged) and served slightly chilled.
Pours a clear golden-blonde colour, topped with one finger of foamy white head that fizzles off within a minute or so. A foamy collar of modest proportion encircles a filmy layer upon the surface; not a speck of lace to be seen, though. Immaculately clean aroma, with nothing but grainy, bready pale malts and a hint of grassy hay.
A very nice lager, and an absolutely crushable one. The nose pretty much told the whole story - it tastes of the same clean, grainy malts and bready sweetness that I just spent a few moments sniffing, with the grassy, floral hops following soon thereafter. Clean, dry finish. Light in body, with average carbonation levels that provide a bit of crispness to the mouthfeel, which is generally smooth. A few of these in a row would be no problem at all.
Final Grade: 3.73, a B grade. Redline's Idle Coast is rather good if taken as a standard pale lager, but the side of the can calls it a Munich Helles, which I guess I can sort of see. It definitely has German influences, but as someone who drinks Hofbräu Original regularly I'd say this brew is at least a tier or two down from the top Deutsch exports. Still worth a try if you appreciate pale lagers, German or otherwise - I'd consider picking it up again, though I've never seen it locally.

Pours classic gold colour with a small head. Smells sweet. The taste is a bit bitter, a bit sweet, with faint hops and caramel in the background. A quite nice lager

On tap- Taps a clear golden hue with a smallish white cap that collapses too soon. Weak nose - some bread dough and grassiness is faint. Fluid mouth feel, watery body. Flavor is malt forward but a tad sweet without proper balance - fast uneventful finish. Misses the lemony-honey-buscuit bite of a Munich Helles and the gravity is too light for the style - Helles is my favorite drink and this misses the mark....no off tastes or anything just off the mark style wise in not a good way.
