This is truly a special beer that you don’t see everyday. We feel the Dozer Special provides the best of both worlds. Flavors and aromas of Malt, brown sugar, toffee, caramel balanced with a hoppy citrus and pine profile.

On tap. Pours brown with beige head. Body is medium and slightly crisp. Taste is of toasted malt, dark fruit, toffee and herbal hops. Finish is long and almost dry. Nice brew.

Love the guys at M. Special. Have met them a few times and they were cool guys. The beer, however, not so good. First time reviewing one of their beers, but I’ve probably had three and maybe 3.75 was the highest. Still have faith in this one.
Poured a dark brown color with two fingers of khaki head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Very good foamy lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled hops from the jump. Not sure which ones, but wow, that was surprising. Also got herbal, menthol, red apple, mint, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasty malts, hints of coconut, plum and dark fruits. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted about the same as the nose. Definitely an American Brown Ale with all those hops. Got brown sugar, caramel, toffee, toast, toasty malts, plum, herbal and dark fruits. Does not taste 7.5 pct. ABV. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long, toasty finish. (Feel - 4.00)
This was pleasantly good overall, really growing on me late. (Overall - 4.00)

I normally do not like brown ale. I don't like the sweet, powdery finish. I don't like the thin mouth feel. I don't particularly like the color. I think I was scarred once when I was young and bought a twelver of Newcastle.
This is the opposite of the Newcastle experience.
Poured it from a bomber into a pint glass. Not too sweet. Dry finish. None of that metallic aftertaste I expect from brown ale. Decent amount of alcohol heat. It was dark in the room, so I don't know about the color. Tastes wonderful.
I want more of this. I want to go to the brewery next time I'm in Goleta to get some on tap.

This a nice example of an easy to drink brown ale. Pours a dark amber with a little head, nuttiness and malt in the aroma and flavor, even a little brown sugar in there. Medium bodied, exactly what you'd expect from a brown.

On-tap at Sante Wine Bar and Lounge, Solvang, CA
A: The beer is slightly hazy dark amber in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high beige head that died down, leaving a large patch of bubbles on the surface , a collar around the edge, and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of nutty malts are present in the nose along with some hints of toasted malts.
T: The taste follows the smell and has done notes of earthiness in the finish—some hints of brown sugar are perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: Although they are not really noticeable, this beer has a good amount of underlying hops. I would have expected this beer to be sweeter given the malty flavors in the taste.
Serving type: on-tap
