Red Invasion is a Rye IPA. A bread-like, subtle spiciness that finishes crisp & dry. The rye makes the malt profile shine through, while Citra, Amarillo & Nelson add lemon, gooseberry, & grapefruit notes, with bitterness taking a back seat.

I'll just go ahead and say up front that I am biased here because I love rye ipas, but I really thought this executed on two points really well: incorporation of the rye and huge juicy citrus, stone fruit, and berry to pair. The nose is not as balanced as the taste is, but really lets the rye and hop bitter shine. Feel is heavy for style, but not too thick, chewy and well hopped. Nice change up from the usual ipa

16 oz can split with a friend, poured into a snifter. Pours a slightly cloudy orange with a fluffy and long-lasting off-white head. Aroma and flavor feature dank tropical notes, some caramel malt, and a hint of onion with a slight rye spiciness. Not super dry but not cloying either. Mouthfeel is soft, pillowy, and excellent. Overall a great rye IPA.

A - Hazy dark gold with some garnet tinge and lots of floaties. Lacing and head is sticky, thick, and rocky.

S - Spicy citrus, herbal aroma.

T - Subdued citrus and spice, light grapefruit, and nice lingering citrus. Finishes more on the sweeter side. Nice lingering subtle spicy citrus on the back side.

M - Big medium body

O - Very subdued and flavorful.

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Gleaming faint amber to light orange body color, with a real clarity and almost bright shine to it. Head creation is immense but controlled. Giant billowing nice white head of four tall fingers. Real creamy top and thick retention too. Big aggressive looking IPA.

Quite a real nice aroma. Light touches of spicy and herbal hop but also some spiced sense of malt. Hints of toasted bread crust and even maybe some biscuit notes in the mix. Some sweet honey quality comes through as well.

Palate is surprisingly silky. Rich mix of spicy malt and sweet honey on first sip. Controlled bitterness comes in like marmalade for a real nice contrast. Earthy and spicy finish, such as a real nice toasty bread and some honey for more added contrast. More touches of bitter marmalade and sweet orange jam mixing with a spicy kick.

Very nice take on a rye IPA.
