Pours a thick oily black with a dark brown head. Solid retention for the style. Raspberry strong on the nose. Touch of dark chocolate. Taste is a short burst of the raz followed by chocolate. Nice and thick, but a little bit cloying from the berry. All in all a nice beer.

Aslins basic Imperial Stout that they use for all their amazing variants , Very malty. Caramel and coffee tones. I prefer the IPAs but any new variant that comes out I will give it a try.

Sawdust and grit have nothing in common with this deceiving creeper of a flavorful bounty of smoothness. Tucked away in the suburbia of No. Va - take the pilgrimage March to the land of good and plentiful beer and lasso your beer dreams. ASLIN

On tap at brewery:
Pours deep brown a little short of black. Head quickly fades, little bit of coating and occasional spots of lacing. Nose is a little sweet, making me think Baltic porter or milk stout, but there is significant amount of classic roasted notes as well. Chocolate mainly with some burnt toast and charred wood notes.
Taste follows suit, being a little chocolatey up front, backed by a generic roasted grain taste. Beer probably could lose a little sweetness or even better, add a little clean bitterness. There's a little tang I get going into the end that again makes me think of milk stout. Feel is a little thin in body and just a little thick on the tongue.
An okay stout that to me was just a tad too malty sweet and a little thin for a imperial stout.

Beer has a nice brown head. Beer itself is an opaque black. Looks bit syrupy in a good way.
Smell and taste are unusually sweet for the style. Strong sweet chocolate that resembles chocolate syrup. Roast is light but there. No hop note that's discernable.
Feel is good. Heavy body with very little carbonation. Syrupy feel. Good.
Overall, an unexpectedly good stout that is sweeter than you would expect. Get it.
