The cloudy peach colored beer pours out from an undated can into a Duvel glass with a 1/2” creamy white head that recedes slowly (but never totally disappears) and at first leaving little lacing on the sides of the glass. However as the beer is sipped down a solid sheet of foam is left on one side of the glass. Sipping creates some web-like patches and legs of lacing.
The aromas include some pine and some citrus (orange zest) with some tropical fruits such as mango and pineapple mixed in and blending well with the rest.
The flavors are much as expected from the nose with the orange zest and pine notes almost upfront but nicely blended in with the tropical fruits that are definitely there and not concealed a bit. There doesn’t seem to be much sweetness from the malt except in the background as a counterbalance to the well-controlled citric, piney bitterness that provides a nice counter balance to the fruit flavors.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied and quite smooth with the gentle carbonation. The finish begins as the fruit flavors recede to leave the piney, citric bitterness to close out the long, slightly dry ending that still allows just a touch of sweetness to show almost to the dry, bitter ending.
For my first NEIPA this seems to me to be a well made beer that I'd be willing to have again. It's full of lots of hop aromas and flavors that play well together and leave one wanting another sip.

Nice thick head with minimal dissipation. Deep yellow color with a few bubbles peeking through the haze. Orange smell is subtle but well balanced within a nice aroma of citrus and some pineyness too. Taste is JUICY with pine hops at the end. Mouthfeel is a bit flat but Very easy drinking!
Worthy of the top ranking.

260213. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.
A: Bright hazy gold with 1-2 finger foamy white head with average retention and plenty of craggy lacing.
S: Very nectar-like bright fruity aroma with big pineapple, peach, mango, guava, red grapefruit, and tangerine with a lighter but obvious dank, herbal, weed undercurrent. Esters are light and tropical fruity.
T: Flavor is a bit pithier and flatter with more white grapefruit, green grape, tangerine, lemon-lime, and pineapple with the same dank, weed background note. Bitterness is low. Esters are mild and fruity.
M: Feel is less full than most hazies but for the most part more drinkable for it with medium body and lightly dry finish.
O: Aslin Orange Starfish achieves to the hype no doubt - highly aromatic and delicious with a somewhat lighter more drinkable feel. Great hazy.

Given the name, one should not be surprised by an aroma and taste overshadowed by that fruit. It comes with a cloudy gold body and a large white head devoid of meaningful lacing. Decently carbonated with a healthy dose of bitterness. If you like the style you should like this offering.

Great Hazy............. First time orange drinker. Really enjoyed But somehow this has become my favorite beer over the last year. The citrus is absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of Luxardo Triplum Triplesec. The scent when you open the can is a special perfection of citrus and floral hoppy notes. Few tastes are as refreshing as a really cold Orange Starfish.

Poured into a wide mouth grip shaped goblet: color is straw gold, slight haze, head is off white with fine bubbles, head dissipates to thin top.
Smell is citrus forward, orange dominant, some pith, light biscuit.
Taste is very similar - simple yet high quality: citrus/oranger forward, pith, light tropical, biscuit, oats.
Mouthfeel is low carbonation, lower sweetness, moderate bitterness but softened lingering feel.
Overall a very good hazy ipa - not on the overly hazed side but quality hop flavor/aroma/presence.

I am not a fan of orange in beers or most orange flavors in general. Not really my flavor pallet. But somehow this has become my favorite beer over the last year. The citrus is absolutely beautiful. Very good hazy. Could reach for this one anytime. If i had to knock one thing it would be slightly overdone with the orange and citrus, but this nit does not keep this one approaching top tier.
