Where's the head. Ain't one!
Yep! Smells and Taste like chocolate and gram crackers. High up on the sweetness scale.
Maybe I got an old one that lost its fizz. I think it's dated 02/17/23. Not sure how old is considered "old". Time to do some research.
Overall I would have given it a higher score if it wasn't "flat". Maybe I need to give it another try but at 12% ABV, not tonight.

Appearance - the beer was dark, black, like used oil with a slight mocha colored head.

Smell - The nose was sweet. Marshmallow came through in the nose as did a dark chocolate presence.

Taste - the initial taste was sweet, aligned with marshmallow. There was a herbal chocolate presence that just didn’t seem to fit. It seemed as though the chocolate was burnt. Those dark marks lingered toward the back, largely eliminating, any sweetness.

Mouthfeel - For the brewery, this stout seemed a bit thin.

Overall - There was a bit of an off flavor to this beer, which prevented me from giving it my full endorsement.

Pours dark shadow colored with a soft, tan colored two finger head that leaves wonderful lacing. Aroma is deeply chocolate, that European good quality chocolate smell. Some vanilla can be detected as well. Taste is lighter than expected, ABV forward and chocolate. Lots of chocolate. All in all, very drinkable.

Another brew in this crazy Hubbard's Cave marathon!

Poured aggressively into the glass which resulted in three fingers of dark brown creamy head. The strangest thing happened though. The bubbles began to assimilate into bigger forms until it looked like a shaken up root beer float. Huge bubbles laced with lactose formed until they eventually disappeared into nothingness.

Nose is huge notes of chocolate and marshmallow. Roasty malt in the background.

Taste is roasted malt right up front. Boom! Pow! You know who is in charge here. Followed up by the chocolate and marshmallow with the slightest hint of cinnamon.

Mouthfell is full-bodied with mild to medium carbonation. The carbonation is a little more active than one would expect in a stout of this ABV.

I really like this one. Its a strong independent stout that don't need no adjuncts. But for real the malt stands up on its own two feet and doesn't let the chocolate and marshmallow take over everything. Balanced and tasty without being too sweet.

Another solid offering from Hubbard's Cave. Marshmallow, Chocolate on the nose. Great mouthfeel. Getting really spoiled with all of these great breweries in the Chicago land area. Stopped buying beer online because we have so many great breweries right here and 3 Floyd's just across the Indiana border.
