Haven't had anything this bad from these guys. Was able to force myself to drink about 7-8 ounces of it, the rest was drain-poured. I don't recommend this one, even if you're a fan of HC. Way too thin, artificial and unbalanced.

Not my fave from the brewery. They generally brew very rich beers, which are smooth and balanced. The mixture of flavors is a bit off here and somehow the chocolate and toasted coconut don’t meld together well. The finish is a bit too sharp for a pastry stout.
OK to drink, but it should be a bigger, more balanced pastry stout.

Pours opaque, jet black in color with minimal head. Taste is big coconut, white sugar, vanilla, cocoa and dark cherry. Heavy body, sweet with low carbonation. Really tasty imperial stout. Really missed Hubbards Cave. Nice complex stout that is a notch off too sweet.

16 oz can from Beverage Warehouse in Winooski, VT.
The aroma was pleasant and suggestive of chocolate.
The taste was very much chocolate cake with a hint of coconut and something else that also recalls certain cakes, but that I can not put a name too. Very sweet, but not syrupy. The taste was consistent from the cold pour to the warm final sips. I did not experience any 'off' aftertaste. It makes a nice cake substitute. :)
Feel was in the normal range for an imperial stout.
Overall, I think they hit what they were aiming for. Not especially complex in the sense that the flavor (or my perception of the flavor) did not change as the stout warmed. It came in a two pack and though I am not anxious to drink the second one alone, I would happily split it with someone.

Tar black body, brown head. Smell is laced with the coconut and milk chocolate with pecan and caramel lingering. Taste starts with all of those elements, but the finish has a bitter roasted barley note that becomes metallic as it somewhat warms. Too bad because the lighter feel allows the adjuncts to mold the body without being cumbersome. Certainly sweeter but chewy and smooth. The aftertaste lets this beer down

16oz can into a globular glass. 2020-1 dating.
Pours like thick black oil. Head is impressive at first, then shrinks to a ring & sparse covering.
Smells as advertised, german chocolate cake.
On tasting, the chocolate comes through, pretty warm from the abv. It's pretty sweet. The only thing that doesn't come through is the coconut, but I'm okay with this since that sometimes coats the tongue.
Mouth between medium and full, finish a warm dk chocolate.
Overall, if you're in the mood for a sweet dessert beer at the end of the day, this fits the bill.
