Hubbard's Cave Rocky Road Imperial Pastry Stout, 12% ABV. Pours thick and deep brown to black, gritty chocolate syrup at the bottom, 1.5 finger brown head that left decent lacing and syrup residue. Nose is light cocoa and vanilla, taste is all bitter cocoa, slightly sweet, slight vanilla/marshmallow, and nuts, equally bitter and sweet, with an odd tang. Cocoa steals the show. Excellent mouthfeel, overall very good. Marked taste down for the odd tang, perhaps the cocoa bitterness playing off something sweet like the marshmallow. Not the best Hubbard's cave pastry stout I've had.

Pours a light-absorbing black with little to no head. Aroma is nutty with overtones of vanilla. Chocolate is certainly noticeable as well. Taste is not well carbonated and isn't well pronounced, meaning that not one flavor seems to come forward. The brew is sweet and almonds are the most I notice.

Tasted in a Spiegelau stout glass from a one pint can on March 28, 2021. The feel is a little flat and thin. It is very sweet with little flavor from the almonds or walnuts.

Pours opaque, jet black in color with minimal head. Taste is big marshmallow, roasted malt, vanilla, maraschino cherry, and almond. Heavy body, sweet but not cloying, low carbonation. Makes for an excellent sipper. Loads of great stuff going on here. I don't get straight rocky road but good.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a narrow collar of tan bubbles around the edge of the glass and a thin film of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of almonds are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has strong flavors of almonds along with underlying notes of marshmallow and hints of vanilla.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied and very slick on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The almonds seem to overmatch the other ingredients in both the smell and taste, but this makes for a nice stout if you are a fan of almonds. It is rather drinkable considering its strength and does a very good job at masking nearly all of the alcohol from the taste.
