Hubbard's Cave nailed the Valentine's Day stout this year. The strawberry is front and center is this pastry stout. I have found it hard to detect in most other beers but not here. It blends nicely with rich vanilla bean paste to create a decadent portrayal of chocolate covered strawberries. HC doesn't miss on flavor.

Poured from a can into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a pitch-black color with a one finger head of brown colored foam. The head fades rather fast, leaving a bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is huge of a sweet strawberry and raspberry smell mixed with a nice roasted and toasted malt smell and some big sweetness being predominantly of a chocolate nature, but also containing big smells of caramel and brown sugar. Along with these aromas comes notes of a vanilla as well as a little bit of a coffee and crème smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweet milk chocolate and big sweet strawberry flavor. The strawberry is fairly authentic, but does have an almost strawberry hard candy like flavor to it as well. At the same time there is a nice roasty and toasty malt flavor, which as the taste advances, lessens in intensity as the taste moves on. At the same time some vanilla comes to the tongue and is accompanied by some caramel and brown sugar. The strawberry grows stronger more toward the end of the taste, and with a bit of a nut flavor, one is left with a sweet chocolate strawberry taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is lighter then would have been anticipated for a 12 % abv. brew with a carbonation level that is lower. Actually the low thickness is rather nice for the strawberry tastes and makes for a easier drinking dessert brew.
Overall – A very sweet, but enjoyable strawberry milk chocolate stout. Definitely a fun one to try if you get the opportunity.

Hubbard's Cave Chocolate Covered Strawberries Imperial Stout, 12% ABV. Pours moderately thick and black, with a one-finger light brown head that left no lacing. Nose is chocolate and strawberry. Taste follows with strawberry in front, then chocolate, plus vanilla, moderately sweet, slightly tart, slightly bitter. Excellent thick mouthfeel, if a bit over-carbonated. Overall outstanding.
