This refreshingly crisp American lager balances a noticeably pleasant malt backbone with a subtle, complimentary hop presence. Best paired with friends, music, and new adventures. No destination needed.

Crooked Hammock Brewery "Four Tires, Two Friends And A Radio"
12 fl. oz. can "PKG 05/18/22"
$2.49 @ Total WIne & More, Wilmington, DE
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is an American lager at 4.8% ABV brewed with "All-American" ingredients. It's mostly clear, and deep golden in color beneath a short head of white foam. The aroma is surprisingly malty and without any hops, and there unfortunately seems to be some acetaldehyde to it giving it an apple-like aroma that's just a little bit off. Following on that unfortunate note, the head has dropped away to nothing at this point and I haven't even tasted it yet. Onward... it tastes as it smells and the malt covers up a lot of the acetaldehyde but it's still unpleasant in the nose. That's unusual for a lager as even if the fermentation isn't that healthy there's usually a fair amount of time for the yeast to clean it up. In this case I'm going to assume that the yeast was underpitched. There's not a lot of bitterness to it and it comes of as sweet, grainy, and corn-like. I won't say that it's completely out of balance but it's more of what I'd expect from a bock than an American lager, AND it's only supposed to be 4.8% alcohol by volume so there's definitely something wrong here. In the mouth it's medium bodied on the fuller side and just lightly crisp. All in all this is a complete disaster and on the world stage it's hardly fit to even be considered as average. I'm hoping that this is just one bad batch and I'm now going to have to make it a priority to find some more Crooked Hammock beers to determine what exactly the truth is.

Taster at brewery. Golden pour, small white foamy head. Tastes the same as Hammock Easy, just a little more intense. Grainy, hoppy, weird finish, can't place it.

A: Pours a clear medium golden honey in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate medium golden yellow + amber + copper colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall fizzy sudsy foamy off-white head that quickly reduces to a couple of small patches of thin film surrounded by a medium sized patch of mottled very thin film covering approximately 30% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of slightly toasted + bready + biscuit + grainy malts with a light amount of grainy sweetness. Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of lager yeast. Light aromas of herbal + earthy hops.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of slightly toasted + bready + biscuit + grainy malts with a light amount of grainy sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of lager yeast. Finally there are light flavors of herbal + earthy hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades away leaving a relatively clean finish.
M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp with a relatively clean finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a refreshingly crisp + clean mouthfeel. Enjoyable and went down pretty easily on a warm late spring evening here in NC.

Great body with amazing flavor.
Not overpowering with subtle hints of dark malts.

Canned 2021/03/30
Pours a fizzy 1.5 finger head with fair retention, hazy tons of sediment golden tan color
Nose fair sweet grainy malt, a bit fruity and touch of creamed corn and nutty, doughy cereal pilsner in the background
Taste more cereal grainy pilsner malt, straw, hint of corn, light fruity notes, herbal mild earthy hop with med bitterness, gets a weird vegetal character late, spicy fair bitter dry finish
Mouth is med to lighter bod, med fizzy carb
Overall something off with this one

On tap at Crooked Hammock Brewery, Lewes, DE.
Pours a clear golden color with a moderate foam head. A thin frothy layer of film retains throughout.
The aroma is mostly clean as expected. It showcases bready and biscuity malts. The modest hops aroma shows fruity and floral notes with a touch of lemony citrus.
Light bodied, clean and crisp with a moderate carbonation. Clean notes of bready and biscuity malt with a mild doughy quality. There is a touch of caramel malt sweetness balanced with a modest hops bitterness. Hops flavors are fruity and floral, with a gentle grassy spice and touch of lemony brightness. The finish is dry and clean.
Very refreshing on this hot Father’s Day, especially enjoying on the outdoor Biergarten.
