The Alaskan Pilsner, golden straw in color with a fluffy white head, is extremely clean and crisp - highlighting a slight malty sweetness that finishes with a moderate bitterness that won't linger longer than the 'aaah' that will escape your lips. That subtle sweetness and balance ensures each sip is better than the previous, making it easy to go back for more. 30 IBUs

Pours a nice golden color with a medium to large head that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma is Pilsner malt and spice. Medium to light body and mouthfeel. Taste is malt and floral spice with a little sweetness and a slight bitterness at the finish. Rated 4-15-2023

I'm not sure most Czech Pils aficionados will agree with BA's styling... but I'm OK with it. Alaskan's hops are more modest than most Czech pils, particularly in the finish. But that suits me because I'm a recovering malt-head and still have a weakness for a low-IBU when relative to its style. Alaskan's Pils also did well with a squash ravioli; letting the dish do its thing. Largely because it is thin to medium in my mouth. I will give a fuller review as I work on the Alaskan 12-pack sampler I just bought. And these 3 Pils' can be finished as this first one pulls one of my heartstrings.
9/19/24 Had a second can with another dinner of pasta. And All I had to do was edit the review above. No rating change. However I will say Alaskan's Pils probably pairs better with most lunches. I like these guys. They are accomplished, having started in the previous century.

12 FL OZ can
Served in a perfect pint glass
This beer pours a brilliant pale yellow color. It is topped with a few inches of off-white head that is fed by an eruption of bubbles from the bottom of the glass. Rocky lacing is left behind as I imbibe.
Grain aroma with a bit of lemon
Steeped cereal grain flavor followed by a hint of citrus and light bitterness that doesn't linger.
Thin bodied and mouthfeel
Easy drinker. Light beer.

Purchased from the grocer for about $2
Poured at fridge temp into a pokal Pils glass
Pours clean and clear golden straw. Generous if not aggressive foamy top. Excellent lacing trail behind and sturdy retention. 4.25
Sweet grassy aroma, some cracker and biscuit. Simple but I think it smells great. Perhaps a touch of earthy hops as well I noticed as it warms up. 4
Lightly floral but mostly earthy hop bite, grassy grains, crisp cracker, and sweet honey. 4
Light and thin, just enough sharp carbo bite and residual hoppy aftertaste.4
Overall this is absolutely going to be a regular for me going forward, and the stovepipe was the perfect format to enjoy it. Really a good hoppy Pils, even out of date. 4

(12 oz can, best by 102923; purchased single off shelf at Happy Harry's in Fargo yesterday... poured into a Busch pint)
Clear, yellow-gold liquid; tight, but active, uniformly cropped foam stand; foam breaks up, laces in random nuggets... maybe it smells good? its intensity and expression are nearly mute to my senses right now... ok, huh, that's different and unexpected; this tastes more like a German pils, if any type of Pilsner, or maybe a Pils attempt by a mega macro US corp; second sip, now flavors leap out more, like honey-lemon drop, cracked black pepper, mashed dandelion petals, bit of pancake in the back; that's all I got... kind of crisp and dry, with a perfect measure of spicy warmth in the aft; maybe a touch oily, lipsmacky
this has curiously, starkly dull expression for something that clearly has some decent flavors to offer; really, this is just an American lager that wants to be Czech (2181)

12oz can poured into pint
Pours clear yellow with a one finger foamy white head that has great retention. Smells of cracker malt, honey, bread dough, a hint of floral hop. Tastes of toasted cracker malt, bread crust, peppery and floral hops. Light body with moderate carbonation, foamy mouthfeel and crisp finish

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a good level of retention fading slowly and leaving a good sum of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strong of a grainy and doughy smell mixed with some sweet caramel and corn aromas. Along with these smells comes a touch of herb and a little bit of hay.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter caramel and corn malt flavor mixed with some bready and doughy flavors. At the same time there is a bit of graininess, which gets stronger as the taste moves forward. At the same time there is a touch of herbal hop that joins in. As the taste advances forward the sweet gets lighter, while the grain gets stronger, leaving one with a moderately sweet and more grainy taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel - The body of the brew is medium to slightly thicker for a beer of its abv. and style with a carbonation that is moderate. A higher carbonation and lower body may have been slightly better for the flavors, but all said, the feel was pretty decent.
Overall – A slightly sweeter and less crisp pilsner, but one with a rather sizable flavor for a 4.8 % brew.
