Our Brewmaster trained and brewed in Berlin, but as a NW American, he still loves his hops. Of all the Pilsner substyles, the one brewed in Northern Germany is the driest and crispest with a great hop character. Brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516, we use German malts, hops and yeast. Magnum and Hersbrucker hops provide the spicy and snappy hop flavor and aroma.

Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned October 2025.
Appearance: pale golden-yellow hue with a bit of haze and two fingers of frothy ivory foam atop.
Smell: quite yeasty with a rather soft, crackery malt character, and a nice dose of earthy, herbal hops. I like it.
Taste: moderate sweetness with some grainy quality to the malt that adds just a little astringency. The hops contribute an earthy freshness, but aren't too bitter. This is a very well-balanced beer, and I like it.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: a really solid hoppy pils! I would say the hoppiness is pretty high up in the mix for the style, but the sweetness just balances it out.

Initial hop rush, more than experienced in any pilsner I’ve previously drank. It works though! Malty on the back end. For a low ABV brew (4.8) it packs a lot of flavor. Overall, very enjoyable.

Appearance: This offering pours a slightly hazy golden color. On top is a bright white head about two fingers thick.
Aroma: Faint lemon zest, apple, a little bit of grain and a faint dryness in the nose.
Taste: Nice and crisp in the front. Apple, a few notes of biscuit. Citrus and floral hop with a twinge of malt towards the end.
Overall: This one is very straightforward. No frills and very pleasant to drink. Prost.

On tap at 1856. Poured a crystal clear, golden yellow color with a large, pillowy white head of foam. It left sudsy lacing. It smelled of bready malt, caramel and toffee. Sweet caramel taste with a mild bitterness. Smooth.

my first beer from these guys, definitely will not be my last, an unassuming little six pack and a super impressive specimen here, love the name, zoigl as style and tradition remains little known. this is elite level pils, surprised its not rated more highly here, although i suppose the robust hop profile for the style may have caught some folks off guard. unremarkable pale yellow color, not all the way clear but not messy looking either, shorter white head but a lot of carbonation through the whole drink, refreshing feeling when i drink it, insanely dry and crisp, light bodied, and lively feeling, not so light that its only summery, this is all season lager for the most discerning drinker. the nose shows spicy noble hops, crackery dry european pils malt fully extracted and with tons of character, and a not totally familiar lager yeast profile, german but with some distinctive bready notes and seemingly bringing up the minerals in the water, smells almost healthy, great balance and refinement evident. the flavor is great, the hops start early for the style, never too intense but on the more robust side for sure, grassy more than spicy up front, lightly citrusy, before a more bitter back end which helps this finish fast and clean. i love the herbal character, the hop flavor without heavy oily texture or lingering bite, and the way the yeast helps wash everything away at the end of each sip, this is really patiently lagered, very mature and refined in that regard, and downright impressive. so stoked to still have a few more of these in my fridge. i will be on the lookout for more of their stuff and make a point to hit the brewery next time i am in portland. this is fantastic beer!

Pours a cloudy, somewhat opaque brilliant golden yellow color. Thick, frothy white head forms on the beer, lingers for a long moment, then dissipates. A thin residual layer of splotchy foam remains on the beer. Aroma has notes of sweet bready malts, fresh straw, spicy and grassy hops, and some light minerality.
Taste follows the nose with notes of sweet bready malts, some light straw and dried grass. Hops bring a spicy, herbal and grassy note. There is a light sweetness to the beer and a slight minerality. Mild bitterness. Feel is light to medium bodied, crisp, easy drinking. Moderate, bright carbonation.
Overall its a well made to style example of a Northern German pilsner and an extremely enjoyable beer to drink. Thanks Ryan!

An all around delicious tasting German Pilsner, with a bit of spicy hops on the nose and a noticeable dry, bitter finish. This was good in the can but even better in a glass.

12oz can served in a footed pilsner glass. Can is dated 04/04/2022. Bought it at Chuck's Hop Shop Seward Park last weekend.
Pours a clear light yellow with about an inch of head that settles into a thick, clumping ring and a medium sized skin after a few minutes at rest. Lots of active carbonation. Smell is grassy with a little lemon zest, little bit of biscuit and a fair amount of yeast.
Taste is nice grassy / lemon zesty bitterness with a soft honeysuckle behind it, yeasty funk is there mostly in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is light, smooth, crisp, dry. Overall, this is a very nice pilsner.

Look: Opaque pale yellow with a dense white head that has good retention and is leaving great lacing as it recedes
Aroma: Freshly cut grass, floral hops, pilsner malt, light citrus notes, and cracker-like malt
Taste: Follows nose but huge floral hops dominate up front followed by some citrusy goodness. Pilsner malt and an overall cracker-like presence leads to a punch of grassy and more floral hops on the finish
Mouthfeel: Clean, crisp, full bodied while still feeling light, and a nice zing and some dryness on the finish
Overall: Outstanding German pilsner here. Great noble hop flavors and aromas in balance with a tasty malt presence and an awesome crisp and dry finish make this everything I love and look for in a pilsner. I would love to (and need to) do a blind side-by-side tasting of this and pFriem’s offering as they are easily my two personal favorites from the state. Highly recommended

Clear golden body. Crisp malt, not too grainy or crackery, light sweetness and mild floral citrus hop bite. Balanced, lighter medium bodied, good carbonation. A good grilling beer, a bit light on body.

12 oz. can from a 6-pack purchased from Roths West $alem Market.
$9
Pours a nice bright yellow..though it appears ever so slightly hazy? Great looking and lasting foamy white head.
Nice spicy/grassy hop aroma..very trad..strong malts.
Taste same..grassy hops backed by biscuity malts..balanced..yet still ice hop presence.
OK mouth feel maybe a bit under carbonated for style..and getting a wee bit of onion from the hops.
Overall nice pils..but could be cleaner finishing.

Pleasing color and appearance, light head over a light golden pour. Balanced taste - pleasing light malt and just the right bitterness. Be interested to know if they use German or American hops or a mix. We've enjoyed beers like this back in Germany and a sip brings back some good memories.

Just a hint of haze in the golden yellow brew, with bubbles streaming in the Timmermans goblet. Spritzy mouthfeel, and the nearly creamy carbonation that you'd expect from a German beer. The nose is intensely hoppy, with straw and biscuits baking.
Grainy taste with a very resiny finish. More dank than I'd expect a Pilsner to be While the flavor is robust and distinctive, I find it a little too bitter in the long, long aftertaste to be really enjoyable. From the 12 oz can from the six pack purchased at Market of Choice in Eugene.

Poured from a can. Hazy golden look. Small head. Lacing settles after every drink. Smells lightly of bread. Taste is similar with additional sweetness. Carbonation stays consistent throughout casual drinking.
