This fresh hop version has a massive blast of Tettnanger hops from our friends at Goshie Farms in the whirlpool. We fermented slow and cool with an authentic Kölsch yeast strain brought back from brewer/owner Alan Taylor’s studies in Germany. A year-round sessionable German-style ale with that once a year freshly harvested hop experience.

Pours a rather dark amber with average foam in the Chuckanut Kölsch glass. MIldly spritzy on the tongue with a more malty body and taste than you might expect. Slightly sweet with cereal flavors. I wouldn't say that I taste much of a hop flavor but there is some pleasant grassy freshness. Overall this is not so much like a Kölsch the German style but it's a lovely light quaff, especially if you think of this as a very nice Helles. From the 16 oz can purchased at Special Brews. Dated 09/02/25 so it's the freshest brew I've had this season.

This beer pours a light golden color with a small head. The aroma is light malt, yeast and mild hops. Out of the 7 beers I sampled today this was my favorite, though they were all great. Very well-balanced beer and one of the best Kolsch's outside of a true German beer. 20 IBUs Rated 9-26-2024

Poured into a Reuben's Brew pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a fine, two finger white head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of lightly biscuit malt, mild citrus hops, lemon; lightly floral. Flavor is biscuit malt, citrus hops, lemon, lime, faint floral and mixed fruit. Moderate bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A pleasant lager with lightly grainy biscuit malt and a touch of huskiness and a simple, but pleasant citrus hops with hints of fruit. Nice burst of grainy malt in the finish. Laid back but enjoyable.

16oz can served in a shaker pint. Dated 08/29/2024. Got it at Beer Junction a few hours ago.
Pours clear greenish-yellow with an initially large head that settles into a thick skin, tons of active carbonation. Smell is bready, almost doughy, with a sharp greenness that borders on lime and leafiness. A little honeysuckle floral.
Taste is honey and bread dough, hop character isn't lost but is definitely not up front. More of a sweetened lemonade vibe to the citrusy hops. Almost a key lime pie.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, maybe on the full side, a little bit of a chew to it. Overall, tasty and enjoyable beer, but not screaming fresh hops at me.

16oz can in a nonic pint glass. Dated 09/07/?? Hard to read. Got it at Beer Junction a few hours ago this year, too...I think my previous description fits pretty well.

Canned 8/22. A frothy explosion of hop aroma awaits the pour. Slightly hazy with a bit of sediment -- swirl the can on the last pour to take it all in. Taste is mild with controlled bitterness but still having that fresh hop 'zing' . Very sessionable at 4.9% ABV, a standout in the FH frenzy with all those robust FH IPAs.

2021 release, can from ABV.
A clear straw yellow with a dense white head with good retention and lacing this looks great. The nose is beautiful. Soft, delicate, doughy, bready, lightly fruity with just a wonderful fresh hop character. Delicately oily and earthy to go with the soft lemon nose, this is great. The palate opens softly bitter and with a great, clean, crisp, doughy and cracker malt like character. Softly fruity. The mid-palate has a soft, delicate lemon and earth hop character. Drying, clean, crisp, doughy on the finish. Light in body and moderately carbonated. Delicious.

*2020 Version using Tettnanger hops
Look: Clear pale yellow with a lively and pure white head that is holding quite well and already leaving great lacing
Aroma: Cut grass, lemons, some wet straw, cracker-like malt, floral hops, and yep, more grass
Taste: Huge floral, grassy, and lemon notes right out of the gate with the straw and cracker malt notes appearing from time to time. A little honey comes through before more lemon-led hop notes leads to the close
Mouthfeel: Light, spritzy, crisp, and super clean throughout. Medium-high carbonation and a soft but crisp finish
Overall: Really digging this one. A delicious beer already and with the fresh hop notes really shining through, takes this up to another level. I’ve never had a fresh hop Kolsch before but when I heard these folks were making one, I had to seek it out. Grassy, floral, and lemon bomb in a deliciously and extremely drinkable Kolsch, count me in
