Poured from the can into a nonic(k) pint glass.
Big peach orange and dark marmalade like color, with a haze like body and opaque appearance to match. Creamy fleeting off white to khaki colored head, manages a good collar while settling.
Interesting aroma. Spicy notes with a creamy citrus angle that seems almost IPA like. Clean with a hint of dark bread and bitter orange rind.
Palate seems unique. Juiced orange and citrus with a real not almost burning spicy quality no doubt from the rye malt. Has a great tangy marmalade flavor on the finish , even a little touch of creamy to buttery flavor in a good way (doesn't seem high on diacetyl). Still, the flavors come out a bit rough and particularly over dry.
Not too bad overall, but kind of a difficult beer to really enjoy thoroughly, with some interesting character.
