Solid IPA. .. enthusiastically pleasant hop aroma .... respectable hoppiness.... well balanced with a solid and pleasurable malt-depth.

Nice example of the West Coast style. Golden and clear, effervescent. Served on tap in a shaker pint. Soapy lacing. Aromas of papaya, pear, and citrus. Flavors of grapefruit, white grape, peae, papaya, and honeydew. Nice bitter finish.

Beautiful but not overpowering aromas of tropical fruits. Light golden straw color. Not much head from my pour, but nice lacy cling to the side of the glass. Mild on the tongue, very solid flavor with some citrus but more malt base. A tinge of bitterness at the very tail end of the swallow. This one improves from the pour all the way to the bottom of the glass...better than I originally thought.

Smells very nice. Feels very thin/light, with a weak, forgettable taste.

I'm calling 45er average, but with potential to be better.
Looks clearly are average, half of AIPAs have the same color and same spotty lace.
Smells are better, but I'm not sure why except there is a sweet malt, citrus hops balance.
Tastes are not better as they fell to the temptation of piling in the bitter hops. After-taste tells me too much pine. Not a pleasant sit in the mouth.
How to improve it? Don't lean on the hops. This is a malt beverage, or should be.
Since I am unlikely to have another of their wares, I went on the website of Austin Brothers and their story is kinda average also. Two guys fall in love with a remote place and decide to share their skills and make a go of it... at least for several years now. Their food menu is as undifferentiated as their lead AIPA. But they are doing what they love and I give them a few OA hugs for that.

Poured from tap at the Dow Exchange in Birmingham. Minimal head and rather flat tasting. Maybe just a bad keg? As an admitted hop-head, this IPA is lacking in flavor.
