Mad Jack Suckerpunch Strong Lemon Lager. Got a 710 ML can from a friend . (Im actually reviewing this beer the next day)

Look: Bright yellow pale color. Lots of carbonation. But a soda like carbonation. No head.

Smell: Sour citrus adjunct lager. Limonade like and you have those bubble going on ur nose.

Taste: Average to bellow average. You have that chemical sour citrus limonade sweet juice. The sour is quickly replaced by that 7%ABV. Nothing else. Citrus and that's it my friend.

Feel; Super dry, medium body, medium to heavy carbonation. Since Im reviewing this beer the next day you will probably have the worst hangover ever. The very sweet sour dry is killing it. You will wake up with a headache and will be thirsty as hell.

So overall would I recomend it: No, just skip it. Even to get wasted, buy something else, you will do yourself a favor.

710ml can, found this week at my local 'shameful but sometimes necessary chain liquor store adjacent to my local brew pub', alongside its apple bro. I gotta say, I actually like this one's name, because I feel that it might mean something appropriate, for once.

This beer pours a murky, pale whitish yellow colour, with one finger of fizzy and wispy dirty white head, which leaves absolutely nothing in terms of lace anywhere near the glass as it rapidly dissipates.

It smells of under-sugared lemonade, tart concentrated lemon juice, lemon-drop candy, and lemons. The taste is lemonade, lemon soda, grainy pale malt soaked in lemon juice, and maybe a bit of stoney flintiness - if you look hard enough here, but you won't, will you? Oh, and perhaps a soupcon of metallic alcohol, again, well hidden.

The carbonation is fairly tame in its barely-there frothiness, the body a decent medium weight (for fruit juice), and smooth, I suppose, but that was hardly a concern coming into this tawdry affair. It finishes off-dry, with a mixed lemon 'character' presiding.

Overall, the impression here is of Mike's Hard Lemonade given the industrial brewing treatment - I'm sure that some of the base malt liquor essences will eventually seep up to the top as Suckerpunch warms, but I'm not waiting to find out. The flavour is all 'natural' lemon, so I'm going to enjoy that while I am able to, my cognitive dissonance field set to stun.

Tallboy picked up at TBS; dated Jan 14 2016 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a cloudy, pale straw yellow colour, with one finger of bone-white head which proceeds to fizzle off within 30 seconds. A sickly-thin collar of bubbly foam is the only remnant. Lemonade on the nose, with some of that fake lemon juice aroma - you know, like the concentrated stuff inside those yellow plastic lemon-shaped squirt bottles at the grocery store. Tart and acidic.

It's drinkable, but that's the closest thing to a compliment you'll be able to pry out of me. Citric lemon acidity and sugary lemonade sweetness provide the one-two suckerpunch that I assume they are referring to. There's also some corn syrup and grungy boiled vegetable flavours buried underneath, but the lemon flavouring ensures that they are relegated to a background role. The finish and aftertaste lean toward the sweet side, rather than sour. Light-medium in body, with fairly assertive carbonation and a prickly, sparkling lemonade-like mouthfeel. Bad, but not quite the atrocity I was anticipating.

Final Grade: 2.69, a lousy C-. I can't help but shake the impression that Mad Jack Suckerpunch Strong Lemon Lager actually originated in the late 90s, but was somehow caught in an anomalous time vortex which wound up depositing it at The Beer Store, 20 years into the future. Similar to Mike's Hard Lemonade, albeit not quite as heavily carbonated as I recall - there is still some semblance of an underlying beer (/malt liquor) in here somewhere, but what's present is not appealing in the least - and beyond that, it's just lots of lemon flavour and simple sugars. A tick is a tick, I guess, but unless you're desperate for them, don't bother.
