Love this beer. Several growlers later and I'm calling it a gem. Thoroughly enjoyed the pale lager earlier this year so, assuming it’s the same base beer, it’s cool to see the changes wrought by aging in oak.
From straw gold the beer now shines a beautiful dark honey gold or near amber. Nice frothy head appears after a meaty pour.
Roasted grains is more prominent in nose and taste than the previous toast and cracker. It’s still there just a little more robust. The oak adds an earthiness and a lightly sweet vanilla kicker.
Feels slightly less carbed but still finishes with a clean snap; not quite crisp and it’s less of a thirst quencher this time around. Sip and enjoy, for sure.
Love the variation and usage of wood on non-ales. Great beer.
