Lichtenhainer is a pale beer brewed from lightly smoked barley malt. It is very lightly hopped and only boiled very briefly and exposed to a lactic acid bacteria infection that gives the beer its weakly sour taste.

Amber brew with a brief flicker of foam in the tumbler. Zippy aroma, woody with a hint of smoke. The taste is slightly tart with just a note of the lacto sour. Very light but malty. The smoke is light as well, but gives a distinct tang. Maybe the lack of carbonation is traditional but it would be lovely with more fizz. Overall, a pleasant summery quaff with low alcohol. From the 16 oz growler bottle filled at the brewery tap in Langley.
