On tap, drank side-by-side with Grimbergen autumn biere. Despite one being very fruity and the other being very malty, they seemed to be from the same brewmaster in subtle ways. Both Looked good in a Grimbergen goblet. Rouge Smelled mostly of cherries and other berries. As fruit beers go, Rouge was well-balanced... not too sweet and even finished with some twang. Medium-mouthed.
Others, like Delirium, brew this style better. But still I give A-M good Overall Hugs for buying Grimbergen and keeping its recipes alive. While A-M's contribution in this century is less stellar, hopefully they're keeping the Big Boys honest.

I generally avoid fruit beers, but this fruited lager is an easy quaff. Combines raspberry, elderberry and clove for more complex profile than the usual Belgian Lambic.

Review: 25cl very small bottle of Grimbergen Rouge: 6.0% vol.
Grimbergen Rouge with a red cap, comes in a very small bottle, 25cl! Bought in discount store, very cheap. Also comes in 33cl, 75cl and in 500ml cans and on draught in the odd place in France and Belgium.
On pour getting a lovely red raspberry coloured beer with purple streaks, and a very nice frothy white head, looks good, very appealing on the eye.
Very good lacing on the glass.
Smell is of strong strawberries and cherries. Very nice, oh man it is very good on the nose, very pronounced. Love it.
Initial impressions on the taste is this is a very light beer, very light and faint, and a bit watery too.
Getting a strong strawberry flavour with cherries and peach, and a slightly astringent taste that seems artificial.
Small bottle, but got a decent amount out of it all the same.
Overall it is like a fruit juice, relaxing after a while and it did grow on me over the time sipping it, but not really anything special and won’t be buying again.

Poured the 500ml can into a St feuillien Chalice, leaving a two inches head fading quickly. Color is dark red.
Smell is cherries, and red dark fruits.
On the palate, following the nose cherries, red fruits, and unfortunately a very artificial taste to it. Way too sweet and sugary. Almost an unbearable cough syrup except it’s not out of a spoon but a damn 500ml can. You know what that means and it’s rare from me: drain pour after a few sips.
Overall: I was expecting from Grimbergen something at least “okay to good” but this is not. Poor or awful and trust me I’m not one to drain-pour my beer like that on a whim. I tried. Hugely disappointed.

On tap. Clear red color with white head. Sweet strawberry smell. Pretty light feel. Cloyingly sweet with some strawberry flavor. The sugary sweetness is really overpowering, I wouldn't get this again.

0.25l bottle.
Clear red with thin pinkish head, low retention. Smell - sweet, red berries, somewhat spicy.
Taste - not impressive, sweet, berries, doesn't linger, artificial.
Light-body, low carbonation.

Very fruity. Easy to drink. Maybe too sweet, but one is fine.

From Uvinum. In Teku glass. Playing South Park The Stick of Truth. With Valdevegon old cheese. Pretty good for the style. Soft, the strawberry flavor is not agressive
