2019 notes:
Thorough blackness, big, rich brownish head, looking nice.
In the nose: soft and peanutty. Chocolate lurks below. Peanut butter stays on top. Highly likable, this. So peanutty.
In the mouth: Sweetness at the start, with balancing bitterness. Sweet peanutty butter flavors take over, with chocolate keeping time. Delicious. Medium bodied, long, sweet finish. Tasty damned stuff.
I wouldst. I definitely wouldst.

Thanks, Sam!
Got this on Sam and Laura’s visit out here. Liked the coffee lager that they brought (First Call - 4.11) and this one sounded even better, labeled as a “stout brewed with Golden Promise, peanuts, cocoa nibs and milk sugar.” That’s right up my alley.
Poured a pitch black color with three fingers of khaki tan frothy head. Could see some bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled cocoa, fudge, banana (?), dark milk chocolate, chocolate syrup, light creamy peanut butter and roasty malts. From the can was a mix of cocoa, milk chocolate and peanuts. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste was just as good. First thing I thought was how smooth this beer was. In order got cocoa, peanut butter fudge, milk chocolate, chocolate syrup and roasty malts. The 7.5 pct. was well hidden. (Taste - 4.25)
Full body. Creamy-to-sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 5.00)
Just a terrific stout. So smooth and inviting. Perfect for a cold day. (Overall - 4.25)

Little too light on the mouthfeel, much more subtle peanut butter than other comp beers

Pours a dark brown with a faint red tinge and a poppy fizzy head that retreats. Not amazing to look at. Smell is absolutely wonderful, like a good fresh batch of peanut butter fudge. Taste is not quite the same and has a more complex profile than the taste. Toast, dark chocolate, peanuts (not quite sweet enough to say “peanut butter” despite the strong aroma). A bit thin, perhaps almost too much(?) carbonation. Still a solid dessert beer.

Pour a dark mahogany color with a khaki head. Smell had roasted malt, peanuts with milk chocolate. Taste had peanut butter mixed with milk chocolate both light in flavor and very well integrated with the base stout. Mouth feel was thin and creamy roasted peanuts and creamy malts. Nicely done PB stout.

Pours nearly black from the can, kicking up a half inch of mocha brown foam that fades quickly. Aroma of roast peanuts and bittersweet chocolate is inviting. Taste follows the aroma but definitely a more nuanced roasted peanut flavor taking a back seat to dark chocolate. Neither overpowering. Faint lactose sweetness fades into a dry finish. Plush, medium weight somewhat lactose creamy body holds together well. Nice peanut butter/chocolate dry finish. This brew from Modist is akin to a foreign export stout meets peanut butter but is done very well not overpowering the peanut aspect. I really enjoyed and look forward to revisiting and am wondering what if any meaning the semi-invisible angry goat artwork on the can has?
