This is our Rye IPA. Named after a very productive local fishing spot, this beer combines the bite of rye with the piney citrus notes of the hops to bring you a highly drinkable IPA.

Poured translucent amber color with a bone white head that left sheets of lacing.
I don’t normally smell much these days but I did catch what seemed to be a NEIPA fruity aroma, which perplexed me considerably. But points for being able to smell anything!
The aroma is *not* repeated in the flavor. This is piney and rye sharpness that is just balanced with a pleasant array of malt notes, biscuits and some caramel maybe. Very tasty.
The feel is just viscous, not mouth coating but more like a body to the texture, if that makes sense to anyone.
I am a big fan of Reds Rye which is seldom canned anymore, this reminds me of that a lot. Good beer!

Pours a mostly clear orange hued copper; off white big and quick forming head; huge amounts of lacing.

Nose has an interesting fruity note that dominates, like orange citrus in a fruit salad; slightly toasted malt and sap…the fruitiness unfortunately dominates here.

The fruitiness fortunately is not as dominant on the taste…present, but toasted and spicy malt presence is much more noticeable; a very sharp pine needle bite on the finish.

Mouthfeel is medium; tongue coating hop resin; dry and mostly clean with a big huge hit of bitterness; the hops leave an almost sticky feel once the sip is gone…beautiful. The rye definitely enhances the hop bite on this beer.

If you like bitter dry and piney this ipa will not disappoint you.

Blind review, NBS BIF #13
Frothy, sandy head is assertive at first but drops off to a thin ring. So retention is not that strong,
A very subtle nose of pepper, caramel malt and maybe a tad of vanilla? A slightly west coast IPA hop note comes through as it warms.
First sip is slightly herbal, a tad peppery, and hints at brown bread.
Going to have a little more as it warms.

Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium, carbonation is a tad low. Smooth, slightly bitter finish.
Overall, the flavor is the highlight here. It really came into its own as it warmed.

So the pepper and slightly citrus meets earthy pine west coast IPA hop note was fairly on the mark. The nose was just very subtle. I have no clue where I got the hint of vanilla.
A pretty nice take on a Rye IPA. I like rye.

Pint on draught at the brewery. Reviewed on release day. It pours a clear, reddish-amber color with a foamy, ecru-colored head and soapy lacing. The smell is rather subdued but features rye, caramel, and a whiff of berry. The taste opens with rye and peppery spice but as the glass warms a bit the taste develops with strawberry, chocolate, and caramel that add balancing sweetness. It finishes with a dose of pepper and hoppy bitterness. The best attribute of this ale is its mouthfeel: it's highly drinkable with a moderate, creamy creamy body and pleasant level of carbonation. The 7.1% ABV gives it substance but without distraction. Overall, Reef 11 is a nicely-brewed rendition of a style I like and I enjoyed it.
