this was hands down the best beer we had in here, a pretty rich yet classic example of the style, a little darker on the malt, more of a vienna complexion to this, which really works with the english yeast. pretty to looks at, a one inch white head sits on top of deep chestnut colored liquid, crystal clear in the bubble pint, textbook. the aroma is mild for the color, a little nutty on the malt side of things, some sweeter caramel and toffee, and the bready english yeast thats definitely a classic strain. great malt flavor too, more of that slightly sweeter vienna type, balanced by a nice earthiness and again the hardworking yeast that gets around to drying this out by the finish. smooth mouthfeel here, not under carbonated so much, but round and soft, almost as if from the cask. this beer was great, perfect for fall, and easily an entire league better than anything else we had to drink in here. i know they are a new operation, so some hiccups are to be expected, but this beer is dialed right in. great esb!
