This is our version of a classic Belgian Saison / Farmhouse Ale. We brewed this beer to be a simple yet elegant, yeast driven beer. This is our nod to the classic farmhouse ales of the Wallonian region of Belgium. Fermented with our house yeast, this beer throws heavy citrus and peach aromas, with a touch of funkiness that is to be expected from this style. This is looking like it will become one of our year round offerings, and we love it.

simple beer, my first from these guys, and although i like it, its also a little amateur in terms of execution, and could use a little refinement to really be its full self. the pour was problematic for me, i like the nice light color from the white wheat and pils malts, and i dont mind the lack of clarity in the style, but its almost totally flat in the glass from the tap, hardly any head at all within a minute of the pour, and it lacks carbonation as i drink it too. this is a style i want to be lively and pop, the yeast character sort of depends on it i think, and so with that element missing, this beer seems under cooked and incomplete. its a shame, because their saison yeast seems cool, different to me a little bit, decidedly not just another french or belgian pitch, but something with a little bit of a rustic character, some floral notes, and a trace of fruity white wine, i think in a better beer it would really shine. some light hops on the back end of this, some obvious minerals too, and a dry finish. the poor carbonation kind of killed the experience, but the flavors are quite good and they definitely have something going with the yeast. i had not heard of these guys before this one, so maybe they are new and still getting things dialed in. lots of potential here but its not quite there yet in its current form.

This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a light golden bronze color with a finger’s worth of white flimsy head. Light lace after the head subsided. The aroma had some sweet peach flesh, grassy sweet hops, light dough, white pepper and a touch of citrus. The flavor leaned into the sweetness at first and developed a sly pepper to doughy character as it warmed. Nicely blended aftertaste and finish. The feel was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation and the ABV felt fine as well. Overall, worthy saison to have again.
