Bringing our traditional brewing techniques another step forward we partnered with Rogers Farmstead in Berlin, VT to brew this classic Belgian-Style Grisette. Large portions of raw wheat and an entire bale of hay were added to the mash to give this beer a rustic and farm-like quality. We then open-fermented this beer at 90° with our expressive house saison culture and let it free rise to bring out more of a lemon, pepper and clove flavor and aroma. We think this is a great step towards achieving the rustic yet refined quality we want in our Saisons. Enjoy!

Growler share.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a murky bronzed orange color with a finger's worth of sustaining white foamy head that dissipated finely to leave some sliding lace.
The aroma had a fine blend of sweet floral hoppiness flowing over some lemon pulp, white pepper, coriander and a touch of clove. Some grassy hops slide in underneath.
The flavor was somewhat present with the sweetness up front and then the spicy portions of the white pepper, coriander and clove combine in on the mesh of it all. Aftertaste was somewhat clove to white pepper to some of the lemon sweetness.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied, perhaps a touch under with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, nice saison in a "Good Measure" sort of way. I'd have again.
