Our next version of a cold IPA. This time we brewed up Fallen Flag and fermented it with a lager yeast strain. After the bulk of fermentation was complete, this beer was dry-hopped with Citra and Mosaic hops and cold conditioned for an additional two weeks.

16oz can poured into Narrow gauge stem glass.

Small print on the front of the can:
"dry hopped cold india pale ale"

Small print on the side of the can:
Grains: Golden promise, Oats, Acidualted
Hops: Citra, Mosiac, Columbus

Appearance: hazy yellow bodied beer with bone white head.

Smell: slightly watered down orange juice. Grapefruit. Light to moderately dank.

Taste: Dank, green, and pithy are the predominant characteristics of this beer. Grapefruit zest, pine needles, and berries are well noted. Hint of orange juice and peach as well. Moderate bitterness levels throughout.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation levels. Carbonation is lightly creamy. Finish is dry. The texture of the beer definitely makes you think that a lager yeast was used to brew this beer as it is much thinner than all NEIPA's.

Overall: This is essentially a hazy NEIPA brewed with lager yeast; so I guess that makes Frozen Flag a Hazy India Pale Lager? Narrow Gauge definitely gets some originality points here for being able to meld a few beer styles together to brew something that I have never even heard of! Choosing Citra and Mosiac hops for this beer was a good idea because people are very familiar with those hop varieties and usually seek them out. This is an interesting twist / go "the unconventional route" with this beer Narrow gauge brewed. I dig what they tried to do here. I think is brilliant because it not familiar and the brewer is confident in his skills that he will take a risk with a beer people haven't had before... I am calling Frozen Flag a "Hazy India Pale Lager".
