this was so low bitterness i would have called it a pale ale before an ipa, but its one of those hazy on trend juiced up dry hopped things, thick and milky looking but so aromatically pleasing its hard to even start drinking it. i like the combination of hops here, something quite a lot less conventional than he citra and mosaic duo we always seem to see in these. here we have melba and mandarina bavaria, still fruity and juicy and new school, but subtle in a lot of ways, and unique in this beer in that way. tangerine and honeydew and cut grass, vegetal and new, very cool, very fresh, and decidedly different than the flavors and aromas that usually dominate these hazy hoppy beers. notes of clover and jasmine and lemongrass are all there, and the starchy dry grain base seems just right for this, almost european in some ways, super interesting and good. all of the hoppy beer in here was awesome, and while this one might benefit from some additional bitterness, i think its really drinkable and really well made, and it showcases a really rad combination of hops! definitely a worthwhile brew, whether you call it ipa or pale ale, its delicious. id love to try some more beers featuring melba hops, seems like lots of promise here...

On tap at the brewery.
A cloudy orange color, resembling orange juice. Small white head, a little lace.
Very nice citrus aroma.
Taste of orange and tangerine. Sweet.
Medium-bodied.
