i liked all of the hoppy stuff these guys had going when we visited, and while this wasnt as compelling to me as their process control was, i thought it was a great beer, its done with spelt, which i think has the ability to turn some folks off as its rather unconventional in this style, but to me it adds a cool rustic complexion to the malt and gives something more to the beer than a monotonous hoppiness, which seems to be the way hoppy beer is trending these days, cutting out all malt in favor of massive dry hopping being the only flavor element. i like what the spelt adds, its hearty and slightly spicy, faint rye hints to it, hay and straw, harvest timey, these hops like it too, some balance and kind of unique overall. the hops are fresh and juicy, a little spice of their own, but cleaner in the finish, some appreciable bitterness too, not a lot, but more than is common in these now, and a nice way for it to finish. this is pretty sturdy stuff overall, but i like the interesting grain mix and i think it makes this beer stand out from the crowd, where everything is looking and smelling and tasting more and more alike everyday. quality hoppy beer despite its somewhat average ratings here...

This was a collab with RAR brewing, brewed with Nelson, Citra, and Vic Secret and fermented with Vermont yeast. A hazy and somewhat turbid pale yellow color with a thick and long-lasting white head. A lemony and fruity aroma right out of the can, with some floral and faint honey sweetness. Nelson-like white grape notes along with lemon, along with less prominent earthy/resiny notes. A wine-like finish. Slightly thin bodied. A nice light fruitiness from the yeast. Soft feel. Very nice.
