Hard not to respect SG for what it's going for here. It's got quite the interesting profile, it just doesn't completely work for me. A good bitterness on the front end and for a brief flash there's a good blend of acidic fruit, lactose, and dark chocolate, but toward the back it's hard to shake that it tastes like the milk from Cocoa Puffs. Mouthfeel is almost too creamy, almost like a film of (for lack of a better term) slime. Probably will not get again considering the quality of the other beers that this brewery produces. Still high marks for effort. Totally unique.

16oz can, served in a snifter glass. Pours a dark black body, two finger thick and frothy brown head, good retention, lots of splotchy lacing. Smell is milk chocolate, cocoa, lactose, light vanilla, and a bit of caramel and touch of grapefruit. The IPA presence is way in the background, and the adjuncts dominate. It's even better on the palate and works quite well. The lactose combines with the vanilla nicely to give that particular milky sweetness, and the chocolate and cocoa combines on the other end to give you a swirl-like flavour. In the back end of it all there is a bit of that IPA character with a bit of caramel and grapefruit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, creamy, nice carbonation, making for a delicious dessert beer.

This one pours a viscous opaque dark brown and looks more like an imperial stout, with a medium sized dark tan head that left great splotchy tracks in the glass. The aroma was milk chocolate with almost a minty quality, probably from the hops. Closer sniffs revealed citrus with grapefruit and orange, and also some vanilla. As expected, lots of chocolate taste, followed by a citrus and fairly clean bitter finish. It was like a black IPA in which the roasty malt was subbed with sweet chocolate and lactose. A hoppy milk porter perhaps? Whatever this is, I like it.
