Pours a cloudy, pale banana yellow with a finger-and-a-half of bright white head. Solid lacing.
Tart and stanky aroma with definite lime, some earthy funkiness and an overripe banana element that sneaks up on you. There’s almost a sweet, cake-like character to it, too.
Much like the smell, it comes across like a gose up front in the taste: tart lime hits first with a little sharpness to it. That’s tempered by some banana bread, though. Again there’s a soft, slightly-sugary cakiness or breadiness to it, softening the sharper tartness. I get a salt impression from it, too. Whatever spices they have in there (nutmeg maybe?) seem relatively restrained.
Full bodied with some surprising creaminess and more-predictably zippy carbonation.
This is an excellent all-around beer. It’s a beauty to look at, and the juxtaposition of lime and banana in the aroma, taste and even the feel is really fun to try. Love the can art, too.

Poured into a tulip. A hazy pale straw color with a one-finger white head. The foam had nice staying power. Lots of ripe bananas on the nose, along with vanilla, nutmeg, and faint lime. Pleasantly tart with lemon and lime on the first sip, which cut the sweetness from the banana very well. Spices were there but restrained, letting the banana/citrus balance shine. The lactose also provided a little heft to the feel, which was slick and soft. Really outstanding - one of my favorites from SGB thus far.
