16 oz can, dated 12/10/19, into Goose Island nonic pint.
Silky, velvety vinyl black with a tall creamy head of 3 fingers, dissipating fast like soda to a ring. Not much lace here.
Aroma is dead on Samoa-cookie. Coconut-chocolate-vanilla-hazelnut. This beer smells so good it's a crime. It's like an artisan baker just started work in my kitchen. It even smells good from a foot away.
Flavor is likewise absolutely amazing. For a 6-7% stout this has so much flavor it's ridiculous. Vanilla and macadamia open with some smoother chocolate and caramel flavors, dark candy, and hints of burnt toast and coffee grounds with a smooth milk chocolate finish.
Feel is smooth, slick, carbonated, acidic. Moderate heat here but I don't care.
Beer drinkers in Tennessee have NO IDEA how lucky they are. Breweries like Southern Grist and Bearded Iris are among the best in the country. This beer kicks the ass of nearly EVERYTHING on shelves near me. Just damn incredible. I hope they brew this again and I can get more.
Price paid : $4.49 / can
Would buy again : yes and yes and yes
