Poured into a tulip glass. A striking, bright magenta color with a thin and persistent pink head. Blackberry dominated the nose but it was surrounded by sweet banana and tart lime. Same on the palate. Almost like a blackberry smoothie spiked with limes and smoothed with bananas. The finish was clean from the citrus. Medium bodied and below-medium carbonation. Another fun and interesting beer from SGB.

Double portions of a triple fruit variety gives Southern Grist's non-descript sour ale a strong banana, lime and blackberry identity.

Surprisingly medium mauve and cast if a whimsical fog, Double Fruited Banana Key Lime Blackberry Hill (Whew!) builds a light, short faint pinkish stained hue before radiating the nose with dense lime laced tartness with milder hints of banana and berry dancing in the periphery of scent. Deliciously sweet, a mild mannered cream of wheat character brings a doughy pastry underpinning while hints of taffy, jam and smoothie float gently above.

As the flavors of fruit develop on the middle palate, the sweetness begins to trail. A wallop of banana brings about a fruit smoothie or even a banana split notion to the sweet tooth. The tartness of the ale underneath resonates seamlessly with the lime additions while adding cider, wine, green berry and kiwi. Shy with bitterness, the acidity carries the balance along with a mild musty fruitiness and wheat germ.

Medium bodied but full for sour ale, the beer's fruity tartness is buffered from the tongue by the creamy sourdough character that rests on the palate and provides a medium length fruity tartness with an afterglow of sangria.
