Collaborative tiki cocktail inspired beer with our friends at CHOPPER; this milk stout is brewed with lactose, pineapple puree, coconut, nutmeg, & a hint of tangerine.

Southern Grist likes to push boundaries with many of their beers, and especially their cocktail- and food-inspired offerings. This one pushes those boundaries way too far, combining elements that simply don't work together. To their credit, everything mentioned in the description of the beer is present on both the nose and the tongue: roasty, creamy milk stout, lactose, pineapple, coconut, tangerine, and baking spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. But the overall mix is a jumbled, unappealing, pina colada-dominated monstrosity. It's novel, but it's simply not good.
I've been unable to finish two of the many crazy Southern Grist beers I've tried over the years. This is one of them.
