This is a relatively old release sour, canned 9/1/20.
Poured into my Southern Grist Mini Willie Beecher.
Appearance is full of beautiful orange blush hues with a sort of honey-amber tint and some slight pink as well. The head is initially creamy at 3 fingers, receding to a thin ring leaving broken sparse lacing around the walls of the brand new glass.
Aroma, wow. This is a tropical dream. Just tons of coconut, key lime, cherries, and pineapple. Like a day at the beach. A little like the orange "little trees" air freshener. It has some convincing Pina Colada vibes too.
Flavor starts off with key lime, then some cherries. Follows with limeade, coconut shreds, orange juice, and key lime zest. A touch of hibiscus tea. Vanilla/soft marsh surfaces as a phantom note on the breath after the swallow.
Feel is very light, slightly under-carbonated, a bit starchy, perhaps the beer's weakest point. It is still within the realm of a good sour though.
Overall, drinking like a wedding punch from Miami, this is a very tasty sour and an easy drinker. I've had a few of the "Hill" series so far and I'm becoming a fan. Not as intense as some of the others, but still really enjoyable, and sessionable to boot.
Edit : Further cans have only improved. One of my favorite Hill beers, period. Fantastic stuff. Marshmallow shines as the fruit fades. Drink this at 4-6 months for maximum enjoyment. Either my palate is tuned for these Hill beers or this one just got a bad rep for no reason. Fantastic stuff.
Price paid : $18.99 / 4 pack
Would buy again : sure!
