16 oz can from brewery, canned 10/20/20, into Bearded Iris Beecher.
This beer looks fabulous. It looks like a New England IPA, only reddish-pink. It's got this incredible juicy look to it. I've only seen this in Trillium and Hudson Valley sours. In the glass it glows up a beautiful juicy reddish pink. The head is pink and 1 finger tall. It leaves connected lacing as the head recedes. I love the look of this beer.
Aroma is straight Raspberry and Strawberry smoothie. It's juicy and sharp. It also smells of vanilla ice cream. Tons of natural strawberry and raspberry notes. Equal parts tart and sweet.
Flavor is super tart and underripe strawberry with semi-sweet raspberry flesh and bitter raspberry seed behind it. It's incredibly realistic in its performance. Breakfast time! Lactose brings a little sweetness to the show. Only a little though. Some lime and raspberry on the finish. Very tart, semi-sweet; and overall it's balanced and realistic.
Feel is ridiculously juicy and brings pleasant bite to the gums and cheeks but less than you would expect from a sour of this caliber. Medium bodied, no heat, busy carbonation.
Overall, one of the best sours I've had in recent memory. A great Hill beer. I knew I was in for a treat when the beer basically looked like a NE Sour.
There are a lot of "smoothie" sours out there, but generally skew too sweet and are terrible gimmicks. A smoothie is NOT meant to be a milkshake. This thing is very realistic and well-balanced. Breakfast in a glass. Absolutely ridiculous. The very definition of a smoothie sour to me.
