16 oz can from brewery singles cooler, $6 a pop, into Prairie Rastal.
I decided to buy a single only, because SG stouts are hit and miss for me (mostly miss) and I didn't want to commit to a $20 4 pack. So we'll see if I saved some money or if I shoulda woulda coulda.

Date on can is 2/3/21.
Imperial Neapolitan Ice Cream Milk Stout brewed with lactose, strawberry puree, vanilla beans, and cacao nibs.

Thicker pour than expected, kinda syrupy, forming a black-as-night body and a brown head of 1/2 finger that sticks around awhile.

Okay, Southern Grist. I'm taking your stout seriously. I get tons of strawberry ice cream right off the bat in the nose. Chocolate, peanuts, vanilla, and freezer-burnt Neapolitan ice cream follow in a loud fashion. Very, very realistic. It's here.

Flavor starts with equal amounts of freezer-burnt strawberries and earthy, nutty chocolate. Some moderate grassy bitterness follows and a hint of caramel and vanilla. Finish is of freeze dried neapolitan ice cream. Definitely not pastry-like though. It's a milk stout through and through with strawberry and chocolate notes.

Feel is thicker than any SG stout I've had thusfar, and is still on the lower end of thick. It has a sticky quality to it though, which launches it into Prairie-land somewhat. Alcohol heat is prominent. Has a heavy carbonation. Burning, dry finish.

Overall, a decent milk stout, but one I'm not sad I passed up on. This can will do me just fine. It's not a bad beer, but Southern Grist isn't very strong on their darker beers. I'll stick to their world-class sours and delicious juice bomb IPAs.

Price paid : $6.00 / can
Would buy again : nope

16oz can poured into a snifter

A- pours jet black with a one-finger creamy khaki head that has great retention long after the pour

S- smells of chocolate and roast up front, with the strawberry puree soon following. Light notes of vanilla are accentuated by the milk sugars, giving it a bit of a vanilla cream aroma. Just a hint of coffee from the malt in the background

T- sweet chocolate and milk sugars up front are followed by a bright strawberry note that pops through. Mid-palate starts to bring out some vanilla and a bit of marshmallow. The finish gives more chocolate with the strawberry lingering

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel that continues into the finish

O- easy drinking, with all of the adjuncts coming through
