As the American beerscape saturates with haze, the brewers of Southern Grist look to a culture clash for hopes to create something unique and delicious. New Zealand's Galaxy hops collide with German Mandarina Bavaria varieties for a collision course in flavor.
Pale gold and hitting the glass with a matte golden appearance underneath a creamy white froth, Collide catches the nose with tropical, citrus, floral and spicy fragrances before weaving into a malty sweet taste of cereal, honeysuckle and shortcake.
As the curious hop blend gain control of the middle palate, a tropical taste of passionfruit, gooseberry and under ripened mango tease the tastebuds. A complementary taste of white grape, kiwi, lime, lemon and white grapefruit offer up a green and younger fruit profile before trending smoothly bitter with green tea, lemongrass, verbena and softer spruce.
Medium bodied, creamy and finishing bitter-sweet, the ale carries a medium length aftertaste of fruit peels, light hemp and peppery grasses into the next refreshing sip.
