If this is the hill that we have chosen to die upon, then we might as well die with the taste of marshmallow and kiwi on our tongue. Southern Grist's tropical cause celebrate these flavors on a bed of sourness and sass.
Murky and greensih gold, the beer might look like an ugly duckling but it's scent is bright and beautiful with tangy tropical fruit, citrus, white wine, cider and sweet cream. More succinct to taste, Marshmallow Tropical Kiwi Hill hit the tongue with sour sweetness redolent with taffy, hard candy, vanilla wafer and a hint of sourdough.
Trending much more sour than sweet, anything that resembles malt instantly releases on the middle palate and the kiwi fruit really steps up. Juicy, melon-like and tropical accented with white wine, the beer continues to dry with crabapple, white grape, gooseberry, passionfruit and lime. Much more sour than sweet, the beer balances toward the acidity with a softly pungent punch of sourdough and acids to close.
Light, crisp and refreshing, the early impressions speak of a fuller sour ale, but the beer finishes dry, crisp and highly refreshing, leaving behind short echoes of kiwi, lactic acid and dough.
